Backyard homesteader, quail and rabbit farmer, dog groomer, terrible gardener (working on that), homeschool mom, specimen shell dealer

Every egg is unique. It’s an Easter egg hunt every day! #quail are a great addition to your backyard, no matter how small. #grownostr #homestead

#dogstr of the day. This one is my personal fluff. 12 years young. #grownostr

Sorry I missed this. I did set up a wallet and have been able to send and receive zaps. Is it not working now?

Thanks! I’ve only had them about 7 months but I love them and I’m happy to answer questions.

6 weeks old today and already starting to lay eggs! #quail #homestead #grownostr

we made these #quail feeders and waterers and now I only have to refill them once a week (or less). The waterers are mess free and the feeders are no waste. #grownostr #homestead

#dogstr of the day. A hand stripped wire fox terrier. One of my favorites! #grownostr #dogs

Even worse, only 13 hens! 33%! Technically 50% is average but nature doesn’t always follow math. 🤷🏻‍♀️ hopefully you have better luck. Are you raising chickens or quail?

Cool I need to make one.. or rather make my husband build me one. 😆 anything you’d do different if you made another one?

Yep I save the livers and hearts when I process. The rest of the guts go to the dogs!

Marley is an old man but he cleans up nicely. #dogstr #grownostr #dogs

Sorting and brooder eviction day. Only 13 out of 40 birds were hens unfortunately. The 2 roos I decided to keep weighed in at 7 and 7.2 ounces. Not too bad for 3 weeks old I think. #grownostr #quail #homestead

Not mine! I am a groomer by trade. Here’s my monsters:

Yep it snowed today in northern Illinois. It’s not spring until the daffodils have been snowed on at least once.

#dogstr of the day. This guy was overdue for a grooming. #grownostr #dogs

We’re in the process of looking for a homestead to buy and sheep are one of the main animals I want to have. How did you learn about keeping them? We mainly want them for meat but I’m interested in sheep dairying as well. I’ve heard katahdins can be dual purpose.
