Two hours with a field hoe and a broadfork. Hoping for minimal tilling this year, we’ll have to see how that goes, I may run out of time and just have to get it done. Soil is slowly improving with compost addition. It was a grass hay field for years, and I believe a mono crop farm field before that.

Smaller and a little darker, the mountaineer says it’s also known as Old Dutch Half Runner.

I grow them. My dad grew them. I’ve bought a few times from catalogs, now I save them. My aunt bought me some at Apple Acres in Bedford, Indiana. She didn’t know I already had some.

Quite a few things failed, but oh well. Potting mix gets added to a raised bed.

Winter sown veggies patiently waiting to be planted. A few bolted while still in the milk jugs. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and collards.

German chamomile, catnip, parsley, thyme, 3 kinds of basil, lemon balm, sage, Greek oregano, rosemary, sweet marjoram, borage, and cilantro. I have some spearmint to put in a pot. And 2 squares left to start something from seed.
