Hearing protection was already a feature in airpods pro, I don't think they ever marketed it though. it doesn't seem like they added anything new.
Sleep Apnea detection is huge. Always figured they should be able to do that.
I'd rather not help them build a profile of me, gross.
because doing it privately and on-device is much harder
I barely use the app, I open it to post stuff.
I barely follow anyone on that account
Before it would always open algo feed when the app opened. Looks like they fixed that. Thank god
Opened damus X account to post about notedeck and the first thing it popped in the algo feed was a video of kids playing with a gun and accidentally shooting their cousin in the head and then shooting themself. Now I feel ill. Fuck that app and their algo.
It’s a lenovo android tablet. It can barely run anything but notedeck is smooth
Me and nostr:npub1fgz3pungsr2quse0fpjuk4c5m8fuyqx2d6a3ddqc4ek92h6hf9ns0mjeck are working on the UI controls this week. Once thats done it will be usable for normal people! I set alpha launch day to be end of november, but hopefully will be out before that.
How i nostr with my morning coffee. Feeling cypherpunk af
Yeah we could have a separate read and write configuration but honestly most people won’t want to deal with that
Its temporary until clients are better
Damus allows you to configure different read relays so you may or may not considering your relay setup. With primal they only read from their relay so they can censor anything they want
They won’t, at least in damus’ current model. This is either a feature or not depending on your use case.
Future versions will have autopilot which will just work without having any manual configuration
I was only suggesting it in the context of a multi-faceted spam score algorithm. Zaps could whitelist a key so it doesn’t get accidentally marked as spam by other algos.
I wrote and run https://github.com/damus-io/noteguard which does ip ratelimiting. You can only post 6 notes a minute, although I should drop that since damus is good at retrying writes and spammers are not
Ok, i suggested an algo that works, your suggesting an algorithm that is broken and doesn’t. Don’t use that algo?
In my scenario, it would block a mass spammer because they would have to zap every single person they are spamming which would be very costly.
sha256 pow is so optimized and built out already though. One spammer with an asic would make this method moot.
Im only talking about zaps coming from your zapper to your own pubkey. You can’t zapwash that.
Well zapping yourself wouldn’t work. I would only count zaps from someone else to yourself. You can’t game that.
I personally like bittorrent (especially v2), once we have a way to combine lightning with that to incentivize storage of certain files or chunks, that would be ideal.
I was working on this protocol but realized it might be tricky
I have used monero in the past, but I only have the energy to focus my dev efforts on things that have a chance of being successful. Bitcoin is our chance. It’s the most decentralized and least LARP.
Some interesting comments about IPFS: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37750529
Basically all people who have used it realized it wasn't working, but those who were heavily invested on it used their cognitive dissonance to reframe it as "good for internal networks" or to say that "now it is going to get better".
ipfs has never worked for me. It’s such garbage. everytime someone suggests to use it for file storage in nostr I scream internally.
nip05 is not verification, its utterly trivial for spammers to have a nip05
Maybe they really want us to work on WoT and more advanced spam filtering 😅
Building open source code is like building a perfectly preserved structure that exists forever in time without degredation or decay.
Our DNA/RNA is kind of the same. Once the initial hard work of constructing the code is done, and as long as the information is copied and persists through time, we can construct new versions of ourselves over and over.
Software is "alive" in a similar sense. The main downside is that it is not self-replicating or self-constructing.
Software lines can die out once the system evolves and the APIs become incompatible, so open source code must be contually evolve so that it works in the surrounding systems (OS, hardware), but that is probably the same with any subsystem within ourselves as well.
I like imagining my software as some alien obelisk that stands alone in the universe, waiting to be discovered millions of years in the future by some curious ancient-earth archaeologist.
Maybe code that renders json blobs to reverse-chronological feeds will be as quaint to future intelligences as hunter-gatherer cave paintings. More likely I have just been reading too many hard scifi space operas.

Can a client dedicate a place dry fired zaps go to so I still get the good feels and the zap still goes to somewhere I like to donate to.

We’re adding that next! It was on our list after push notifications

How come I don’t see the infamous reply guy ?
I use a mix of nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg and nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 , I’m only connected to free relays, no paid ones.
I always see people talking about how bad the spam is getting but honestly I almost never see spam in my feed. Not now and not before either.. anyone know why this could be?
I don’t see it either
Stay tuned, releasing a video and testflight on this today
