Sexist asshole nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is talking shit 💩 to nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx AFTER being funded for years …

The glory of the stupidity that is humanity will never end. 🤣🤣

I literally have no issues with odell, other than he seems to think i am out to get him for some reason

The error being made here is assuming i am referring to his link with primal as the reason for denied grants, but i was referring to the fact that its unrealistic for all damus contributors to all have grants.

Of course due to odells insecurities he goes on a tirade saying that im playing dumb and am a liar.

Class act.

Not everything is about you. Stay humble. nostr:note1624asmykryswy4ut904024t38dpvqlndvdyx8e3cdv2w743klqus950f6l

nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s, if your devs aren’t getting grants, maybe others deserve it more? Proof of work > Proof of stake; but what do I know? I’m just a user of both platforms.

I don't have a claim over what anyone ought to deserve over anyone else, I was simply making a comment about how grants are not reliable since the denial rate on people who want to work for us is higher than acceptance.

I'm not expecting any grant org to accept all our contributors, that would be unrealistic.

now odell is making up lies claiming im promoting some narrative just because of this single comment. pretty fucking unreal.

Hey nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s I'm trying to build notedeck on a linux box and seeing this error. Is there a place where you have answered this before or do you recognize it?

error: environment variable `GIT_COMMIT_HASH` not defined at compile time

try cloning it from git

yes but its more complicated than just write a new kind. longform supports editing via replaceable events, etc. would be a lot of ux work.

feel free to propose it in the nips repo, it has been discussed many times and has been shot down since we want to keep kind 1 simple

does one in the client count

ah, I want a dedicated client for that, like a focused longform writer. It's a bit awkward to compose posts on your phone, this would be a perfect candidate for a damus notedeck app though.

fair

Maybe once all my contributors stop getting their grants denied, only other option is VC but im sure ill get cancelled for that

Even if you looked at backend source code it could still get hacked and swapped out. This is a real concern. If the caching relay started serving zap addresses that didn’t match profiles… you could be sending sats to hackers on all profiles. This can’t really happen on iOS due to how code signing works, ios verifies binary signature chains from apple and the developer.

Setting up and hosting is really hard, even for me. I even tried to build my own to have something minimal, but the protocol is so difficult i gave up. You shouldn’t have to be IT or developer to have freedom.

You know what would be a pretty sick flow

for when original nostr content makes its way to other platforms

lets say someone posts a nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg link on x/twitter, the user clients the link reads it n continues scrolling, a pop up appears that says “join over x amount of people using nostr to escape censorship” or sum like that and then gives them the option to sign up or log in and at the very bottom it says something like “coming from x/twitter? Sign up” and the button directs them to a page where they put their username inside of and it checks if that username is available to use as well as it asks them if they’d like to populate the same profile from x/twitter to nostr, which will skip all the steps of setting up the profile, once they do that they’ll have a profile pic up, a bio and a username and maybe even the banner image as well.

great idea, I don't think there's an easy way to scrape twitter for profile info though.

notedeck soon. android/windows/macos/linux is highest priority for us at the minute since ios nostr marketshare is so abysmal. iOS will probably lag in features for awhile until I get to backporting all this stuff.

consolidating my utxos and destroying my privacy so everyones nodes can save a little bit of space on the total utxoset size. Merry Christmas.

this will likely be damus' first official "algo". it is not a trending algo, but simply a way to discover content in your own feed better.

it would be nice if any list would have a way to filter it by user post frequency. this would be like an algo modifier for a list 🤔.

for instance, lets say I have a list of interesting people but one person posts wayyy more than the others, I don't want to drown out everyone else, but I still want things contained to a list/column. there should be a way to add an algo tab/filter that organizes based on user post frequency.

having to manually manage this would be annoying, so it would be nice if this was just a modifier on any list.

started working on this in notedeck today!

fps seems a bit lower in town, but I seem to be getting ~60-70fps average. I'm on linux + rx5700 xt

I read through your docs. this has been the Damus business plan since day 1. I just had to build a new kind of client (I'm called it a nostr browser) that supports many different apps efficiently in a single client, has an insanely optimized database that all the apps within the browser use to communicate, so everything is offline first:

https://github.com/damus-io/notedeck

I plan on adding slack, mail, git, project management, etc

according to the link it says its a jpg not gif... hmm
