I feel more and more the urge to remove all my tech/gadget devices. The urge to disconnect from all this inflow of mostly useless information. I just want to stay in the countryside, focus on living a simple life, and have real human interactions, etc.

Now, with AI, the ways they'll try to steal our time or manipulate us in ways never seen before will be so massive, in my opinion, that the best thing is to opt out before your brain gets messed up by it 😅.

So, living in the real world, no daily internet, no news, etc. - only focusing on real stuff - feels like the next move, somehow.

I'm going to publish more on nostr. I need to settle on a desktop client though: mobile is always optimized for consumption and adds speed bumps to actual creation.

I'm also going to need to run my own instance so that I can archive all my random thoughts and not lose them in the ether. I've made that mistake many times since I stopped publishing everything on my own blog...

Obtainium works like Twitter. You can access a lot of content - but it lives on a centralized platform and it's not cryptographically signed.

Zapstore brings the concept of nostr-signing software releases, so you can verify them just like your client verifies regular notes.

And... you can zap them.

Some AppStore alternative for Nostr/Bitcoin apps, i think. I've never used it, and i don't know what are the pros of using it over Obtanium(with Github repo links).

I'm less concerned about China than the US overlords managing their fiat slave camps. I also only use the VPN to access content the US firewalls won't let me use. I've also been burned by the paid VPN service that I tested on Protonmail, cancelled, and when they continued to charge for services I didn't want to use, the locked me out of all my email accounts there.

So, yes I am VERY aware of all the risks we face when trying to freely navigate online services beyond government data firewalls.

Are YOU using fiat rails to pay for your VPN?

If using LN payment rails are you routing payments through your node directly, without using a prophylactic node to protect your IP address and identity?

Can you confirm they don't log and won't share your activity through them? Does anyone even care if they're just trying to access porn sites as those captive Frenchmen are?

Can you be certain they will cancel billing you for access to their sandbox?

Or be sure they won't someday decide to deplatform you for whatever reason they choose?
