I think in docker you just have to make sure that the working directory is a volume and is persistent. - this needs to be backed up.

You auto transferred half of my Sats to the hub. Why only half? Also how do I default sending from my hub rather than the Custodial wallet/hub (am I even saying that right 🤣)! it should transfer the full amount. If for some reason there is a balance left you will see a transfer button on the node page under the alby shared balance.
Once you have your Alby account linked (check "connections" does it say "Alby account linked"? it will always use your hub. Your lightning address and everything will be using the hub as the wallet.

It connects your lightning address and the whole alby account to this wallet, you get notifications and features like the LSP suggestions. there is a version on the roadmap where you can disable this.

it should be fully compatible. everything that you know from alby just works once you have the hub setup and linked to your account.
Your funds are also auto transferred to your hub after a channel was opened.

In the hub you directly open your own channel to a recommended LSP (or you open custom channels manually)

sadly there was an issue with showing the invoice QR code - which was directly fixed but you have to make sure to run on 1.5.3 - if you use the alby cloud you will see an update button in your alby account.
alternatively you have to "copy invoice" and past it into a ln wallet and pay it there.
the reason for this btw is in his readme he quotes a note that has in its text a lightning emoji and a geyser lightning address

if you add a ⚡️ followed by your lightning address in your profile or a readme the alby extension will recognize this and offer you to "send sats"
You can use the extension quite easily independently of the Alby Hub or even the Alby account.
But you could also allow your friends and family to use your Alby Hub, so they don't have to set up one on their own.
You give them an isolated connection / a sub account and they are good to go.

sure! you can use the extension in any way. You can also use different wallets with the extension.
The keys are only locally on your computer it's independent.
currently an Alby account is required for some features like notifications, LSP suggestion, ... which are enabled by default.
It's on the roadmap to remove this that people can run it without the account so Alby will not know you run it.

During the setup of Alby Hub you currently connect the Alby Account and we've so far focused on usability and support features as such notifications.
making the account and the connected features like this optional is planned, but is just not implemented, yet.

Alby Hub comes with a default embedded LDK based lightning node - or Alby Hub can be used with an existing LND, phoenixd,..
Alby Hub exposes NWC - apps can connect using NWC to the hub (whch is also what getalby.com) does)
The Hub implements the node part either embedded or external (LND)
I side loaded nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm's Alby Hub to my Start9 and after a brief scare (thought I'd lost some sats) I am in love with this thing.
Self hosted Alby wallet for the win.
