Forecasted overnight low: 33 degrees. Actual overnight low: 26 degrees. When your primary heat source is wood and you have a custom rainwater harvesting system, you get up at 4:45 in the morning to build a fire and check water lines.

There’s just something about old oil lamps… 
Not usually. It’s way overdue and I’ve got a limited window to get it done. Also, we’ve got at least 6 feet of sand before any sort of clay - drains incredibly quickly. We’re talking an hour after a torrential downpour and you can barely tell it’s rained.
