I would say it is a balance that needs to be struck, but in any extreme scenario, it may be impossible to source certain items no matter how much purchasing power someone has. In which case, extra ammo could come in handy.

Stocking up on essentials in bulk has no downsides:

1. Bulk is cheaper

2. Inflation will mean it saves you money over time

3. If nothing happens, you'll still eventually use what you bought.
