nostr:npub1pcaa7rjwhnsxqa5ht6ayhahhknhhwc030smgyvs44xcrzm6xwc6q8zkked is doing incredible work in the UK with merchant adoption as well. Worth following him to see how that's going.
Thanks for letting me know, I’ll give him a follow now!!
Yeh if you could, I’d recommend it 😊
And there’s gift cards for basically everything you need in fairness!
Yeh I had no idea either. I was trying out the Strike app after it launched in the UK and within it, it allows you purchase gift cards via Bitrefill. Then I had a eureka moment that I could convert most of my payslips into Bitcoin each month and then when I needed to buy something, pay for gift cards in Bitrefill or Coincards using Lightning. The gift cards are emailed to you and you just use them in-store or online then 😊
It’s in the Mumbles, just west of Swansea 😊 one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in fairness!
Yeh I had no idea it did! I was staying in the Mumbles for the past week and spotted the Bitcoin sticker in their doorway so had I to try it out. Always love supporting businesses that accept bitcoin payments!
I’m probably slightly biased because I’m Welsh but I love Cardiff too. This place was called Mumbles Coffee and is in the Mumbles, just west of Swansea. It’s a lovely seaside area in fairness!
After making the decision to go on a Bitcoin standard, I’ve relied a lot on nostr:npub1m7r9aayrqjtt2q0whkyrwlys75s5d828c5uewvqwyfd2kxefkfjqgeny2w & nostr:npub1l49ccxu5kvpccapwq269yjnc9jj5tteunfgkhl774hn2v0sdzq0sqa62g8.
However, today I came across a lovely coffee shop in South Wales that accepts Bitcoin payments. Adoption in the UK is low but it’s great to start seeing small businesses getting onboard. 🏴🇬🇧
#uk #bitcoin

Maybe controversial to say but much of #Bitcoin ‘influencers’ like BritishHODL piss me off and make the Bitcoin space look like complete degenerates. The amount of people on #X that just take advantage of algorithms and just regularly post insane price predictions in fiat and the promise of ‘big titty bitches’ is insane. All stuff that new people want to hear which gets engagement. But all stuff that also makes the wider Bitcoin community look indistinguishable from other crypto bros.

Yeh that’s definitely the best approach. In the UK it’s slightly different so I did loads of Hack The Box for a while (which is good because people can track your progress and what sort of skill level you’re at). Then I did CREST certs. Outside of the UK though, I’d say for a pen tester the best path is to do hack the box and then move onto OSCP. For me, Offensive Security courses are the gold standard for pen testing
Yep. It’s your risk when you invest but their profit if your investment grows.
Yeh it can be really hard to decide on what path to go down initially because there’s so many cyber security certs/courses. Although I’m a pen tester (so slightly different to blue team) I’d say you’re100% doing the right thing in going for lab-focussed courses. I know so many people that do a ton of multiple choice exams but have zero technical skills. Certs may help with resume screening but technical knowledge will open more doors in the long run
Yep, basically pictures and mainly bot comments.
Initially I struggled to kick the habit of scrolling on #X because I was still programmed to need the algorithm-driven dopamine hit. It took a month or so but after using #nostr more and more, I rarely feel any desire to look on #twitter or another social media platform. I feel less angry, more hopeful and more like I’ve connected with real people.
Oh boy. The UK National Crime Agency's latest Risk Assessment finds "cryptoassets are increasingly used to launder non-digital proceeds of crime" and names increased risks to children through end-to-end encryption.
The only problem: the assessment provides no concrete data to backup its claims and stands in direct contrast to industry findings.
You will be surveilled and you will be happy, even though we are terminally incapable of publicly demonstrating a need for increased surveillance at all.

This basically sums up the UK right now.
Yep, I reckon people will have to turn to Nostr out of necessity eventually because of the way the world is going.
Yeh I hate to say it but I think you’re 100% right. Thank god for bitcoin and nostr!
I’m not sure what it looks like to the outside world but from within the UK, it’s terrifying how wide sweeping the measures are to clamp down on freedom of speech and thought. What’s most shocking is the amount of people that are just going along with it. Conversation and dialogue are one of the most powerful tools in bringing people together and resolving differences. That’s impossible if you’re not allowed to openly speak what you think. In time, I think that a lot of people in the UK will turn to #nostr so that they can honestly express themselves.

From somebody that did enlist, personally I wouldn’t recommend it. Contrary to what I thought at the time, every conflict I served in made that region worse, not better.
