Server patched with latest changes since last week

- Improved the Kick/Ban dialog guidance. Extraneous words from copy/pasta are now gone. Dialog will auto-close if the user somehow launches it without permission to kick the targetted user. Enhanced role checks on whether a user can have the action to kick another user in the room based on their role and the target's role.

- The in room text chat now supports pasting larger cashu tokens containing more proofs. Previously the length limit on text would cut off cashu tokens containing more than 2 proofs.

- Room settings for room owners and moderators should have improved support for users with various accessibility zoom settings. Looking for feedback on the Room Links, Room Slides, assorted user views, and Schedule.

- code adjustments to mitigate some framework warnings

I attended BTC Prague 2024 as a contributor to Stratum Reference Implementation (SRI)

I helped the SRI community deliver a hands-on workshop during HRF dev/hack/day. We had very positive engagement from Hashlabs Mining.

We also spoke with some relevant industry players, including:

- Demand, which is trailblazing SV2 adoption with the Job Declaration protocol. I'm very bullish on how they are decentralizing mining by allowing their hashers to select transactions.

- Braiins, which gave us a sample of their new BMM100 (SV2 enabled Home Miner). It will allow us to test SV2 interoperability between SRI and BOS firmware.

- Marathon, which gave us a sample of their new UCB2100 (Antminer Control Board).

- Ocean, whose community of hashers could benefit from an off-the-shelf FOSS SV1 Proxy solution and reduce the incidence of empty blocks being mined on their pool.

My key takeaways with regards to SV2 adoption:

- Demand is writing some awesome libs based on SRI. I'm excited to record some live coding screencasts with @Fi3 and share that knowledge with the community.

- The Bitcoin mining industry has fragmented SV1 standards

- players are eager for SV2 enabled firmware but also working new standards for encryption and binary encoding on SV1

- FOSS SV2 firmware has great potential to boost adoption (e.g.: github.com/plebhash/cgminer-sv2 🙏)

- Industry players will adopt SV2 when they are ready, and this will be a gradual transition.

- Bitcoin is at its healthiest when hashpower flows easily across different pools

- INTEROPERABILITY INTEROPERABILITY INTEROPERABILITY

Here’s the centering tips I remember from last week:

If you have trouble with clay drying out too much as you’re wedging, wet the surface slightly with a sponge and then wait for it to dry, then wedge.

Make a teardrop shape from your lump of clay and jam the point on the center of the wheel. It doesn’t have to be thrown. Whack it into the center and whack it down firmly in place.

Press down the edge of the lump all around, making a “ruffly skirt” sealed to the wheel. Wet a finger and press between the lump and the edge of the skirt, rotating the wheel to seal.

After this point, never touch clay unless wheel is in motion.

Wheel should turn in the direction dominant hand points.

No need to wedge elbows any particular place, but keep hands as still as possible on clay as wheel rotates to make it even more centered. Patience is key. “Let the wheel do the work.”

Coning is important, it forces air bubbles into the center so they go away as you open up.

Use a finger to make a groove at the bottom of the lump. Pinkies go here; alternate pulling the clay upward and pressing it together until you make a tall cone.

Point of cone goes in palm of dominant hand, whose fingers go down the side of the cone. Supporting hand palm touches clay and fingers support dominant hand fingers.

Dominant hand pulls cone down gently and wheel pulls the clay in to center. “Let the wheel do the work.” There’s a little subtlety of positioning to this I find it hard to describe verbally.

Now you can make things!

Guess I should write this all up, as an article, but I am about to leave and spend 10000 sats on 🍰 and ☕, since I am a wild, sat-spending woman who likes garden parties.

É semelhante a ver um filme antigo com uma belíssima fotografia, apesar da tecnologia mais antiga, e se deparar com um filme da Marvel totalmente 4K, hi-tech, cheio de firulas especiais, mas faltar uma substância visual em toda cinematografia da empresa. A gurizada nova se deslumbrou com o último, esperneou quem defendia o "ancien regime" e com o tempo este mesmo público se esgotou deste atual modelo de cinema. Mantenho minha posição: a IA, em si mesma, só irá me preocupar quando pintar uma nova capela sistina ou compor a 9a Sinfonia de Bruckner.
