While I'm very vocally against Apple and their appstore, here's an olive branch to my fruit phone frens:
Why not spin up a micro app to solve this for any non-zapping client?
Picture this, user logs in with nip-07. Uses Nostr Wallet Connect to link something like Alby or their own node, sets budget and default zap amount. Authorizes, and done. Now the micro app watches the specified relays for "like" events on notes from you, and zaps the note according to your settings.
In theory, different emojis could be set to represent different values as well, or even keywords. Apple and any other app store would be none-the-wiser.

Even though youโre right, telling people to change their OS is not the solution to the problem of Appleโs censorship.
Subverting Apple and creating viable alternatives for users stuck in their walled garden should be everyoneโs response. Whether thatโs building micro-apps, PWAs, etc.
My goal is #Nostr and #bitcoin adoption. Weโre doing a shit job of it and this is making the situation worse.

I absolutely agree PWAs need to be a focus!
And I'm a realist, most people aren't going go switch devices over a Nostr client. That's a big ask, and it makes little sense as a short term goal. My only point is that trying to fight Apple on their turf to stay in the app store is a losing game. I think it would make the world a bet place if we all made better choices with we give our money too, but that's a different issue than what we are talking about here.
Maybe a hobbled version of Damus stays in the store as a funnel to bring folks in where the true PWA version is available? I don't know, but I think effort is being wasted trying to comply with them when we circumventing censorship should be the goal. First it's zaps, next it will be moderation and content.

Yep, pretty much! And if utilizing Nostr to it's full potential as it grows is the draw to pull people away from Apple, so be it! They won't change, they will only continue to take. So starving the beast is the only option.

People in developing countries are mostly not using apple products though...so funding a giant corporation that's hostile to the core concepts of bitcoin and Nostr just to enable people who like walled gardens to play seems somewhat counterintuitive ๐ค
