I cannot for the life of me figure out what I am supposed to do next to get them talking to each other and actually use Alby.

You might need to set connection info by choosing the "advanced setup" option in the onboarding (Alby Hub launch) and choosing LND.
But if you run on VM this might need a more complicated setup and setting up env variables.

Hey, there are two ways to 'convert' your onchain sats to lightning sats:
either 'directly' you open a channel with these funds, or 'indirectly' (but maybe more convenient and often cheaper) - using swap service, ie. exchanging these sats with someone else.
With new release of Alby Hub, v.1.14 coming this week, we will integrate swaps within our interface, so you don't have to go to Boltz etc. ๐

One of such app is getalby Account - that gives you a lightning address and few other features, another is Alby Extension - to use your wallet on desktop browser (whether it's Coinos or Hub or Lifpay), or Alby Go on mobile....

I guess would want to query an API to receive an invoice that I then pass on to the user. Then have some kind of webhook trigger when the invoice is paid.
