#Monero using #libertarian who loves computer networking, distributed systems, privacy tech, and testing beta software. I may not be a pro, but I can file a mean bug report. Building the decentralized internet. One message at a time.

While something like #meshtastic is very limited in bandwidth, you could imagine once more people get nodes and they are closer together, you could use higher speed links with less noise tolerance to get much higher speeds and do very interesting things with them.

If I'm doing my math roughly correctly, you should be able to get 25 KB/s through that link at max.

Seems like he could get stolen pretty easily. #meshtastic

I haven't tried it because there's not at least currently a version for the T1000E, but it looks cool as fuck.

It didn't cross my mind at first, that instead of being just another chat application, it was an entire restack of the internet. And once I understood that, my mind kind of got blown.

Brand new #meshtastic node from Rockland called the "lowmesh pocket-m"

It sticks to the back of your phone, but it is not a battery bank.

Yes, ground level nodes will come through. What will not occur is that you will not rebroadcast packets from ground level nodes to other ground level nodes that would never be able to see them otherwise.

If you do get one and take it on a flight with you, please be courteous and put your node into client mute mode.

In case you haven't seen it, #Dread has some pretty nice new updates.

I'm fairly certain my local router got struck by lightning or got rain inside of the case and shorted out because I've lost all connection to every other node in my area because the router was the only one I could see.

I guess it will be fixed eventually. Either that or the density will continue to increase until I start seeing another node from somewhere else.

So I'm sitting here thinking, I wonder if you could use #reticulum as the WAN side for your router instead of an ISP. My thought is router WAN to a pi acting as a DHCP since the router expects an IP and the pi would be connected via usb to an Rnode.

That's exactly what I want to see.

For example, every time I see somebody post a price in Fiat on XMR Bazaar, I message them and ask them if they can price their item directly in Monero.

The more people who use Monero as a unit of account directly, the less often the fiat price must be referenced, which gives the exchange traders less power over price movement.

I'd say good on them, except the fact that they want it to be worth millions. Millions of what? Fiat shitnotes? They've clearly got the wrong measuring stick. Instead of measuring purchasing power, they want to measure their wealth in fiat shit notes, which is not helpful. They completely missed the point of freedom tech.

Also, I probably wasted my time even filing the bug report. Because I don't use Bitcoin.

"Bounty (in Bitcoin sats) offered for a solution

The size of the bounty is proportional to how much this matters to you. If no bounty is offered,

not even a small one, this bug will not be worked on because it doesn't matter to you. We prioritize

bug fixing to issues that have bounties, even small ones."

TalkBack is a screen reader for those of us who are blind Android users.

The tor section was only an example. It does that for all combo boxes, not just those.

Does it make you do pairing requests for Bluetooth? When I tried the terminal UI, my phone had a pop-up saying my computer wanted to pair, and so I'm trying to figure out if that was intended behavior or not.

Poor kids. Let's normalize raising our kids to understand that financial surveillance is the norm and that everyone on the planet can see how much they have. Sounds like a fantastic idea to me. /s

Fair enough, I was going to run it on the computer with my Monero node, since it is always on, but I had serious trouble compiling it, so I'll have to wait for an actual executable.

Oh, i think nostr itself is rather neat. I am also a big fan of lemmy and the fediverse, but you get a LOT of stateists over their who really dont like opinions against their slave masters. At least bitcoiners (the real ones) also push for the state to be defanged or eliminated.
