https://walletscrutiny.com https://nostr.info Working on Bitcoin, Nostr and being a good dad.

An aunt once told me: "People are assholes and have to prove the contrary before you can trust them".

I guess I fared great with the opposite approach. Almost all people are good.

(Yes, there are psychopaths and they are dangerous. Don't give all your stuff to anonymous strangers but trusting a stranger with a bit of money as long as he'll stay in fist's reach until he probably will prove his trustworthiness is totally fine.)

Whoever has a definite answer probably has their own agenda but that doesn't mean it's not entertaining to speculate.

So BTC dropped 8% in ten minutes. Did anybody have a look if that was dominated and lead by trades on one particular exchange? Feels like fat-finger whale trade on one exchange that got arbitraged to other exchanges, too.

Just trying to stay up to date and if asking for such a drop is not allowed, it's a cult. It's not about conviction to ask for reasons.

Was it SpaceX? Was it Evergrande? Whatever. I'd like to know why such news would move the market by $50B.

SpaceX bought Bitcoin -> Yeah, they get it! Pump it baby!

SpaceX sold Bitcoin -> Whatever man! Where is your conviction?

Looks like a cult, doesn't it?

Hahaha :D That face! "wtf man! mom! he's doing weird stuff again!"

It's not extreme hyperbole. It did happen and sorry I won't search extremely illegal stuff now to proof a point. To assume nostr will remain free of this is to assume nostr already failed. Nostr is for illegal stuff - for stuff that oppressive regimes deem illegal.

Nostr has a spam problem but there is worse than spam. I ran into highly illegal stuff, one click away from what some of my follows re-posted. It should not be that simple. And content warnings should be if anything more granular.

Yes, I'm an adult and sometimes want to see adult stuff without having to click away content warnings on every post but no, I would not click away certain other content warnings.

BitGo had 64B USD in assets under custody. BitGo is the biggest custodians for exchanges and "wallets" but also custodied BTC for El Salvador for example.

All BTC backing "wrapped BTC" are also held by BitGo. That is 162.000 BTC.

That is a lot but many believe, BlackRock and others would overtake BitGo quickly if spot ETFs were approved. Or would BlackRock custody with BitGo?

You are right but it does not imply how to act. Take the receipt or not? If I take it, I punish the shop owner by up to the VAT. If I don't, I punish the shop owner by up to the full sales price and reward the clerk.

Wouldn't the more nostr thing to do be a nip and a way that translations get stored on relays?

Clients that offer translations, do so as a distinguishing factor and pay for those translations, not necessarily so that you offer these translations in your client for free but we could solve this on a protocol level.

How about a nip that offers translations for either event IDs or for content hashes?

To avoid second rounds of queries, relays could offer these translations with the translated events, too.

What should I do?

I don't agree with sales taxes and all the control it entails - in Chile they now push businesses to deliver receipts by mail if you don't pay electronically anyway which would make even cash payments traceable to an email address and maybe tomorrow a government approved email address.

So I often don't want to take the receipt but while that allows the shop to not report the sale to the tax authorities, it also allows the sales person to not report the sale to his boss.

On the one hand the sales person not reporting the sale effectively means he's stealing the good or service from the business (and selling it at full price to me) which the boss would have to prevent anyways. On the other hand, here in Chile, there is almost no punishment for sales clerks that do this, so ... they do.

How can I support businesses without supporting the leviathan?

Nostr communities is very promising but there is a discoverability issue. There is currently many n/Bitcoin and while that is a good thing, we need to be able to consolidate and discover the relevant ones.

Can I mark one as my choice of n/Bitcoin and others do the same and then https://satellite.earth/ would shows you "the" n/Bitcoin as the one that almost all of your follows marked as n/Bitcoin?

Great video! Feels more like standup comedian than an educational presentation. Did they add laughter to the audio?
