Quick story about creating a bitcoin allowance for my 7 year old. I proposed an allowance based upon proof of work and gave her the option of receiving $1/day or 1k sats/day. She immediately chose 1k of sats/day, I asked her why expecting her to choose the bigger number, rather, she hit it out of the park by stating “because bitcoin cannot be controlled”. I gotta hand it to the nostr:npub1ujhr260ncp0z0z88pu4u35mh0c0qkf8nc37989v5w9d9ac7ne6gsejz495 the episodes and graphic novels have really created a level of financial literacy about monetary policy for my kid that I alone could not. Now, I’m working toward a system of hot and cold wallets for her to learn how to receive and use these sats. The Bitkey seems perfect for cold storage, and for the moment cashu.me and e cash payments between us seem like the best way to exchange value while not having to have her device(old I phone) online. Strong take, much of which I do agree with, and to be honest I’m still wrestling with all this. I understand that lobbyists purchase politicians votes, and those that spend the most move the needle. Ripple sees an opportunity, I don’t blame em for what they’re doing. Is this not an opportunity to create awareness and oppose? Would a business as usual mentality not demonstrate weakness and defeatist messaging? I agree that we need to make sure our own house is in order first, but at what point do we get off the sidelines and into the game?

The vibe I’m getting is that the best way to support #bitcoin isn’t to spend it at all, rather just buy and hold, use credit cards and pay off living expenses with your stack, repeat. If a bitcoin payment option was provided to make a big ticket purchase 100,000k sats or more, would you pay in BTC or use a credit card option? #asknostr

This is a helpful take on current SoV and MoE. I’m conflicted, and like many at some point, instead of purely Hodling I feel compelled to use Bitcoin. So I start by buying Bitcoin products like nostr:npub12ctjk5lhxp6sks8x83gpk9sx3hvk5fz70uz4ze6uplkfs9lwjmsq2rc5ky offers with Bitcoin. I seek out guidance from nostr:npub1lrj3lsskez59qu68v5fpnur7ythe7s5e4qcelclha6t6r9q5pqgsl2mzx2 and pay a nostr:npub1cwneqlnjgs3rdtk97c2ffy2df9dm5zycgj3dsg8c3z00hchxjmfqtvraju invoice with bitcoin for their service. I enjoy these experiences, it feels good to circulate value for the value others provide. Is this irresponsible on my part? Should I continue to purely stack and make purchases with usd credit paid for over time while hopefully bitcoin’s NGU? I love sending zaps to those who provide value here, should I continue to keep my value only within this circular bitcoin economy system for now? Or, do I go all in and continue to support Bitcoin only businesses like nostr:npub1sweetl0gskmka0n5qevt7v2wj9q56ntwkmaeywffw4ftaucmcakquhns6h and their fermented honey and hot sauce using my sats? Is it worth setting up Bitcoin payments so zealots can purchase Banshee Bikes direct? So many mixed signals out there on this topic, and occasionally I’m feeling way to protective of my 21 sats than I think I currently should as I want to provide value to those using this protocol so it’ll continue to improve. Appreciate any feedback, it’s a pretty confusing time for someone trying to live on a bitcoin standard.
