We had a 2012 Jetta prior to getting the 2021 Atlas. Had zero problems out of it, except the timing belt or chain went kaput at about 200K miles. Then in November some jackass t-boned my wife and totaled the Jetta, but that little car saved her life. Turns out the guy that hit her had the state minimum insurance, has no assets, etc. Anyways, long story short, we loved our freaking Jetta, and to be honest, we’re all surprised we got a good life out of it considering it was a rental car for about a year before we got it.

Dang birds got their game of Pimps and Hoes goin’ on in my yard, no wonder the town thinks the yard is a public nuisance. 🤣

Watching hummingbirds fight over a yard full of flowers and feeders is pretty comical. These little birds are extremely territorial and can get

violent at times. Then I remembered reading a research paper a while back about prostitution in hummingbirds. 🤣 Here it is, published in 1975.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the iMac, Apple's all-in-one desktop computer released in 1998. The #iMac was known for its innovative design, including a translucent casing, USB and FireWire ports, and the phasing out of outdated ports like the floppy drive. The police chief of Marion, Kansas raided the offices of the Marion County Record, a small-town newspaper, after the paper had been investigating him for alleged sexual misconduct. The raid also included the seizure of computers and servers from the newspaper's office, as well as the home of the editor and publisher and his 98-year-old mother.

The newspaper had received anonymous claims from more than six sources alleging sexual misconduct by the police chief, who had previously worked for the Kansas City Police Department. The raid was conducted based on a search warrant that alleged "identity theft" by the newspaper's reporters, which was claimed by a local restaurateur who accused the paper of illegally obtaining her DUI records.

The police chief declined to respond to inquiries about the sexual misconduct allegations and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has started a probe into the matter.

I’m no longer interested in letting machines or 3rd parties with no information about me creating lists of anything for me. I want to organically find new people and topics to follow and let things play out as they would offline. If that means I don’t make any friends, that is on me. But at least I don’t have to worry about Nostr becoming Twitter or Facebook. I understand onboarding refugees from other networks, especially those who are less technically inclined, is an important problem to solve, but I don’t think cloning the experience they are looking to escape is the answer.

My wife has a ‘21 VW Atlas Cross Sport and I guess all of the transmissions are sealed now and no longer have a user accessible dipstick for checking levels, etc.

Rotating tires and changing the oil is really about all the maintenance a person can do on a modern car. I like wrenching and tinkering so that is why I don’t have anything newer than early 70s gas guzzlers haha.
