If the dollar is still being accepted anywhere in the world, sats are definitely on sale.

Three Body Problem was beautifully written. I loved the language used. I don't know how the translation measures up to the original but the English version was stellar

I'm not huge on scifi books generally, but the original Dune is a masterpiece worth your time. Every book written by Frank Herbert is worth reading, although it gets weird.

The books written from his notes before his son and a co-author I can't remember were not nearly to the same caliber but entertaining enough if you wanted to dig deep into the key moments that set the stage for Dune.

The tragedy of growing older. You either die young or outlive people that you love.

If you've lost someone recently I hope you find peace in their absence.

I'm at the same point. It's just a better, non-ponzi 401k that I have complete control of and performs better than everything else long term. I don't really care what the USD exchange rate is, it's just a savings vehicle.

For sure. It's easy to go for years without testing and it regularly and I think a lot of people set themselves up for unnecessary losses by doing that.

I think an annual check should be considered a minimum for peace of mind.

Might be a good idea to review your cold storage setup, test your backups, and make sure you have a plan for when they start fighting us for real.

Knives are going to come out soon. Politicians are going to start squeeling about the unfairness of crypto speculators wrecking the economy within the next 6 months.

I saw it on the news at 300ish in 2013. I thought it sounded dumb. Why would anyone want money that fluctuates on value, and isn't accepted anywhere? Hard pass.

Then I saw it again on the news later that year and it hit 1000. "Oh, it's a scam." Turned a blind eye few a few years after that.

Don't Look Down is a hugely underrated pop/punk band from the mid 2000s. I picked up their album The Fear in Love on a whim from a radio station CD sale in 2005 and it blew me away. It was a regular fixture in my rotation for the next couple of years.

One of the few albums where I thought every track was great.

That's an absurd notion, I agree with you.

Bitcoin fixes us because it gives us a stable monetary policy to build our lives around and incentivises us toward productivity. But money is money, and humans have demonstrated that we are very susceptible to corruption through it.

I'm of two minds. One one hand the guy is a businessman and an engineer, so when presented with the correct solution to a problem, it makes sense that he wouldn't fuck around with inferior strategies. I can't fault him for that even though the numbers involved make me uneasy.

On the other, his holdings both personal and through MSTR represent so much nascent power that even if he a good faith actor now, corruption is likely to occur in the future. I do not like that he's not friendly to advancements in Bitcoin privacy. He may end up being an enemy long term.

I feel like Saylor is making a play to become a figure like Jean Baptiste Emanuel Zorg, or Niander Wallace.
