Nostr, why and how do you use bookmarks of the notes? Sometimes I see people bookmarking some of my most ridiculous notes, which makes me wonder 🤔🤔🤔

Unrelated note, there is a weird bug with videos on Amethyst (only sometimes, notably from jb55... So maybe iPhone videos cause this.. but not exclusively, perhaps a format etc)

What happens is the 'night light' setting is somehow disabled while these videos are on-screen in the feed. Specifically the entire kind-01 event containing the video causes it.

I tried to screen record it but ironically can't capture that because it's a hardware setting..

I went from 100% to 80% in 1 hr of active screen time on Amethyst with 400 relays... That's seems reasonable.

i don't trust cloud hosting at all, in any way, whatsoever. that's why i'm a nostr relay dev. because i want little people to run internet services. they are more likely to be honorable.

ah, yeah, that's about 50% more grunty than my RX 7800 XT. it has 256 bit memory and 16gb. runs 22b codestral fine though.

these free models from hugging face are quite a jumble of hit and miss tho. took me a while to find a good one, and then someone put me onto codestral, which also seems to be quite good, and more parameters than the 14B qwen 3 i was using before. haven't really evaluated it though, because most of the work i do uses claude 3.7 cloud for a coding agent. i'm looking forward to eventually being able to point the agent at my local LLMs tho. i just don't see the point in using a remote service. i also don't like teaching those fuckers my process, that's more what i'm concerned about because i know copilot is already eating all of my output on github.

Sometimes it’s a tough pill to swallow that the majority of people aren’t willing to put forth the same effort as you.

I remind myself of those tests they made me take as a kid, some kind of like state or country wide test, where the results came back as a percentage of my peers who also took the test.

I always had the goal of being in some top percentile. 95,97,99th percentile, whatever. But then I think back now, and realize holy fuck, that means 95,97,99 percent of all of my peers got a worse score. And then I realize that most people I run into in life, 95 out of 100, are lower percentile performers. Sure, maybe 45 of them are above 50%, but the other 50, well they’re below 50%. And only 5,3,1 are at a higher percentile then I am.

Sometimes it’s just hard to recognize that the majority of humanity is below your line.

I am lucky enough to have a PC that can run the lastest gpt-oss models from OpenAI. I am not impressed. It is like talking to Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy. Even when you explain the joke to it, it still misunderstands.
