running a relay on your phone is also bad for privacy because people can figure out whether your phone is turned on or not. most messengers have the same "feature" though (check mark, double check mark etc).

This is about so many smart persons out there, not subnoting anyone specific. I honestly believe there is a ton of wasted potential because of smart persons being distracted by their reply-guy reflexes.
