That's why I added the caveat of saying the concept itself is sound and needs better representation in medicine. Holistic approaches are the only approaches to health that make sense. Unfortunately, many people who use that label to describe their practice just push supplements with little to no scientific backing to their claims or encourage their clients to avoid proven medical interventions to try the "natural" way at the expense of the patient's health.
"Mainstream medicine" (and science) has its problems, but many people I have met who are into "holistic" health have over-corrected to the point of being worse. I'm probably not your target audience, but that's what I hear when I hear that label.
Taking BTC is a major factor in me purchasing goods/services from anywhere. But for healthcare specifically, their relationship to my insurer matters a lot more. I generally steer away from anybody with holistic in their practice name since it's used by a lot of quacks who don't use scientifically-validated medicine, even if the concept itself is sound and needs better representation in modern medicine.
You get electrolytes every time you eat, it's not something you need to supplement unless you are training like an athlete.
Love your site!! Would also love to see a "Bitcoin for non-profits" section that explains how volunteer organizations and non-profits can accept Bitcoin as a fundraising mechanism.
I am spitballing but I think it's because a survivable (submarine-based) second strike capability wasn't considered a given at the time. Based on very cursory research, both the US and Soviet Union had just barely gotten subs to be able to carry nukes, and I am guessing those nukes weren't as capable and well-tested as traditional non-underwater nuke launching platforms. Once both the US and USSR had nukes they could station in the ocean wherever they wanted rather secretly, it became hard to detect them and rather pointless to try to evict them since they'd just move and find another nearby secret hiding spot. If anything, if you spotted an enemy nuclear sub, you'd want it to stay there since you now knew where 1/10th of their second strike capability was located and could use that information to your advantage. In other words, getting the soviets to move their nukes out of Cuba significantly reduced the amount of the US they could "hold at risk" at any point in time. Making them move their nuclear submarines around doesn't.
Likewise, are #nostr devs and the Bitcoin community ignoring #freenet, #i2p, and existing #P2P technology that is even more decentralized than nostr is? Nostr is great, I love the zapping ability, but zapping ability could be added to these networks. I hope these networks talk to each other some day (for example, nostr for social graph and text, send media content to freenet for hosting/bandwidth), but I see a lot of recreating the wheel going on.
Use Firefox. It's the only open-source browser run by a non-profit, not a for-profit and is the only significant alternative to the Google Chrome monopoly. If you want a web built on open standards, if you want more privacy, if you want to be able to use an adblocker, Firefox is the clear choice.
There's too much protocol in your buffer, you have to remove it, common newbie mistake
Interesting thank you I will look into coracle!
#asknostr is there any middle-ground between "follow" and "un-follow"? There are some people I want to see content from sometimes, but they publish so much stuff that it overwhelms my feeds. Like, just show me their top hits please.
Thanks friend!
It's sneksneksnek@zeuspay.com just got it setup 😃
Just pick any android released like 2-6 years ago, look on eBay/plebian.market/satscrap/shopstr, and there it is used for like $50. There are linux distributions for android that are full linux distros, or you can stick with a normal android ROM. I haven't researched it in a while, so I don't have any more specific suggestions, just saying it's maybe an easier path than doing this w pi. There are ways to run python etc even on an android rom.
- Make content that others find value in. People do value authenticity.
- Post that content to nostr
- Get zapped
- Repeat
If you want an easy and awesome exchange/app to DCA through, use #Strike. If you want the lowest fees possible and maximum privacy, use #bisq or in-person purchasing options. I have a referral link for strike, DM me if you want it. IIRC it means I get $5 and you get $5 once you buy your first $50 of BTC. But I would suggest strike any day, it's simply the best.
#asknostr is proof-of-work widely used when people make notes? If so, what is a suggested amount to use?
Interesting I've had no trouble zapping from, the problem is setting it up to receive zaps. I know it's possible, I just don't know the steps.
A reddit clone. Let's capture people from the continuing reddit exodus instead of lemmy capturing them all. More development on shopstr so we can replace facebook marketplace. More content creators to be aware of the fact that they can get *paid for their content* on nostr. They will flock here when they hear that.
Yes what you need is "signing" app on your phone, computer whatever. This can "sign"/authorize your mobile app to use your identity in a revocable way. I don't have a specific one to suggest for mobile unfortunately.
Have you considered using an android for this project? You can get a used one w similar specs and price, comes with its own screen, you can run a full blown linux GUI on it if you want.
