Privacy is normal :) wot.yesnostr.net

It really depends on the use case and the merchant, someone who knows a little bit of linux is completely different from someone who can barely use a smartphone. I think if they are just starting out

and expect 0-1 transactions per month a node might be overkill, a soft wallet would suffice. But yeah, depends from case to case...

Yeah, but this trick is tricky. You still have to be quite a geek to set this all up ๐Ÿ˜… most vendors are not geeks.

I think umbrel or start9os is a good start if you want to go the full node route, they both have the btcpayserver app. You can run it pruned, so no need for a crazy big hdd. The tricky part is more related to networking and proxying. I usually set up a clodflare proxied domain to the btcpay server instance, this is the most painful part of the setup. If you dont have a static ip it adds to the pain. But it really depends on the use case, for a farmers market you maybe don't need btcpayserver, maybe just a normal ln node + android wallet...

Btcpay server is the most production ready solution out there, has woocomerce plugin ready, pos functionality...etc. Downside is hosting it, running a node, getting some inbound ln liquidity...

Iโ€™m running haven and wot relays by nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8. They were running flawlessly on a VPS, until the VPS started failing. So, Iโ€™m clearly doing something wrong within Proxmox, but I cannot find anything obvious.

Usually the logs should give some clue? Why don't you try to setup a full vm in proxmox? The container stuff can be overwhelming for a beginner sometimes...

Even funnier now that I know the back story for this ๐Ÿ˜…

What measure are you looking at for the spectrum? Is the kelvin parameter not valid? So for example, does a 2700K warm white LED contain some secret amounts of blue light?

Is there any research on this, if there is some significant difference? I guess they both flicker at 50/60 Hz?

I saw that, I use the fdroid version at the moment. It would still be nice to have the possibility to toggle this on/off.

I agree on the part that the UX is very utilitarian, maybe too advanced for non technical users. I think a simple/advanced mode toggle would be a good addition - and that the app defaults to simple (grandma) mode by default.

One more thing that I can't figure out about amber, a way to disable the entire remote signing/relay feature.

I think there should be an option to disable this completely (even removing all the relays doesn't do it). I use amber right now solely as a signer for Amethyst and 0xchat, so only as a local signer. And I think 99% of novice users will also use it this way (at first).

The remote signing should be a toggle-able advanced feature - its again a UX thing, having a persistent notification of the connected relays probably scares/annoys grandma.

Just listened to a nice podcast that I want to zap, but I don't want to use my email and your wallet.

Am I missing something or is it not possible to do this without an email account?

Another representation of the fiat system ๐Ÿ˜…

Oh I get it, I had a simillar experience with some sony phones with a good stock camera app. You could then at least root the phone and more thoroughly wipe the google bloatware maybe, maybe also install a firewall that blocks all that is not allowed. But maybe that is all overkill, difficult to say how much stuff this closed source google stuff is still active when disabled. You could try doing a tcpdump when connected to wifi to find out to what the phone connects when idling...

#asknostr Any good #nostr podcasts or interviews lately? I listened to everything I found on youtube already, noticed most stuff is from 1-2 years ago.

Where did you generate this picture?

It still is, depends how you use it. Thats the beauty of Bitcoin, its permissionless, cypherpunks and corps can use it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Gold doesn't really provide a payment network, there are some cards out there, but thats just visa that settles in $ in the backend. IMO the strongest collective hallucination out there about what is "money" is still fiat and that gives it "relative" price stability, since most people are willing to accept it and hold it. Most people also still falsely believe that gold somehow backs fiat, so gold is part of it in a way. My point is just, that the promise on the debt in itself can not be the reason for price stability, since there are many cases where that is just not true. If that was true we wouldn't have 30%+ price inflation in the last few years even with the strongest fiat - the dollar. I think it just the fact that most people don't really understand it and also do not distinguish between nominal and real value. If they would "get" it, the fiat system would probably implode already...

There should be some caching, maybe a cron job that runs every 5minutes and refreshes the cache, so the site loads instantly, but has 5minute old data max. You could reduce the cron job to even less...
