Happy Friday, #Nostr! šŸ™Œ

Looking back at the week, one thing stands out: how different this space feels. No algorithms pushing posts down, no worrying about getting lost in the noise—just real conversations and connections.

As a social media manager, I always tell my clients that showing up consistently and engaging with your audience is key to building a real community. Whether it’s on Nostr or another platform, that’s where the magic happens.

What’s one thing you’ve enjoyed about this week? A new connection? A post that sparked some good conversation? Let’s celebrate those little wins together! šŸŽ‰

Yeah, I get that! Nostr is so different from traditional social media that it takes a bit to figure out how you want to use it. But that’s also what makes it cool—you’re not locked into one way of doing things. You can use it as a news source, dive into Bitcoin convos, enjoy memes, or actually build real connections without all the usual social media nonsense.

I think the best way to figure it out is to just start posting and engaging. See what sticks, what feels right for you.

What kind of stuff do you usually like to follow on other platforms? That might give you a clue on how to use Nostr in a way that feels natural to you.

Have a great Friday!!

Should brands be on Nostr?

It really depends.

āœ… If they’re looking for real engagement, then yes.

🚫 If they’re after the usual ā€œpay-to-playā€ kind of reach (aka paying for ads), then probably not.

Nostr isn’t about using the same old marketing tricks. No paid ads, no post boosting. And honestly, that’s what makes it awesome. When people engage with your content here, it’s because they actually want to—not because some algorithm decided they should. For me, that’s huge! I hate how on IG I don’t see posts from people I follow until one day they randomly show up and I think, ā€œHey, I haven’t seen this person in forever.ā€

So, should brands jump in, or is Nostr better as a space for people-first connections? Let’s chat about how to approach this! ā¬‡ļø

You kinda got me on this AI programming nostr:nprofile1qqstnem9g6aqv3tw6vqaneftcj06frns56lj9q470gdww228vysz8hqjqcma4 . I was actually an industrial programmer for 5 years so I know something about programming by bathing in it but when I left the gig about a year ago I tried dipping in on python and bounced off the syntax hard.

I then got Gemini 2.0 on Google AI studio which is free for everyone and just started building the app I’ve been dreaming of. We’ve hit the Diamond Age now.

The app worked first try albeit poorly and I just kept interrogating the model for new features and debugging along the way. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had doing something that was impossible for my ADHD brain previously.

But now I throw on some metal and just vibe with Gemini making my dreams come true

It’s always great to do what you love

Totally get where you’re coming from. On Nostr, it’s all about organic reach, and honestly, I think that’s one of the best parts about it. No ads, just real connections.

You’re already on the right track with using valuable content and hashtags. That’s huge. But beyond that, it’s really about getting involved in conversations. Nostr is all about interaction—don’t just post and hope for the best. Engage with others, comment, share your thoughts. The more you put yourself out there in the right spaces, the more visibility you’ll naturally gain.

Also, consistency is key. Keep showing up, and people will start noticing. You’re building a real audience, not just chasing numbers.

What kind of conversations or content are you most interested in sharing? Let’s brainstorm some ideas!

I’ve talked about this before, recently actually. It sucks, right? That just like that, your account you worked so hard to grow can be wiped out—gone—and there isn’t anything you can do about it! And sadly, Twitter (X), Meta, and other platforms don’t have a customer service system that actually gets results. Sometimes I wonder if there’s even anyone behind the screen working on these issues because I never see anyone say they got their account back. Most people need to start a new account, and that means losing everything—your content, your audience, and years of effort.

This is why Nostr matters. There’s no central authority deciding whether you get to stay or go. No support tickets sent into the void. Your account, your keys, your control. If one relay shuts down, your posts still exist elsewhere. No one can just erase you because of a policy change or some automated moderation system.

Twitter is fiat. Nostr is the future.

A lot of marketers are missing the boat on Nostr right now. They’re still all in on Meta, TikTok, and X, but they’re totally overlooking the shift happening here. Nostr is still in its early days, but the brands that will succeed are the ones that get in before the crowd shows up—kinda like the early days of Twitter or Instagram.

So, how do you market on a platform with no algorithm? The secret is to be so interesting that people actually want to share your content. Are you seeing potential for your brand here? Let’s explore how we can make the most of this opportunity together! ā¬‡ļø

I’ve missed this 🤣

Traditional social media = rented space.

Nostr = ownership.

Think about it—every post you share on Instagram or Facebook isn’t really yours. They control the reach, the rules, and if they decide to take it down or bury it, there’s nothing you can do.

But with Nostr, you actually own your content. Even if one relay shuts down, your posts still exist elsewhere. No more waking up to find your account suspended or years of work wiped out overnight.

That kind of freedom is a game-changer, but it also means you have to put in the work. No more relying on algorithms to push your content—you control the visibility.

So what do you think? Do you want that kind of ownership, or do you prefer platforms that handle the reach for you? Let’s talk about how we can use this shift to grow our brands! ā¬‡ļø
