chronic early adopter of decentralized tech :)

I have no issue with algorithms. The algorithm is why I can open X (twitter) and see important content in the first 2 seconds rather than scrolling for ages and ages chronologically.

I just want to know how the algorithms work. But overall it is a major convenience to me.

Something like this was in the original Twitter. nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m called it the “while you were away” feed or something.

I don’t think the swiping profiles thing is essential. But the basic gist is “show me the top posts from my friends in the last X days” where the days could be configurable.

nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg has stuff *kinda* like this. They just need to allow a better timeframe configuration.

Bitcoiners speak almost exclusively in memes. The current meme is “we hate algorithms!!!”

Just trying to do my part to replace that meme with a better one

The first step is convincing people that algorithms are not the enemy

To be fair, Amazon has done a good job of lowering the prices on their Whole Foods branded items. It’s a great spot now

It’s better to say that just your account can’t be taken away from you. Everything else can be taken away by relays and client bugs.

I am begging developers to stop coming up with excuses for why “a bad UX is a good UX akshually”.

Honesty about what is not ideal and how things could improve is so much better it’s not even funny.

It takes time and effort to create a fake email. Choose the provider, create and save a password, annoyingly log into the fake email for just this one purpose.

It is considerable friction to sign up and it is antithetical to Nostr and Bitcoin principles.

Hey nostr:npub12a77qmwwzc9qx7gk8f9m0d5qhclq5rsudr0xu6agcqgnfdzqvnwsfrrdyd . I would say the apps wit bad relays are even worse. Tried to use the online version of #iris.to . It is barely working. Even filling new #relays seem not to work here. I'm constantly missing at least the half of the post history. Man that is bad! And if #Iris is the tool that is recomended by #youtubers i fully understand why people dont like it. The worst that can happen to a #socialnetwork like #nostr is giving the citizens the feeling of not seeing what others can see. And this is what happens when you use iris.

I totally agree! We need to be recommending clients that have reliable relays pre-installed!

You can’t use Alby without signing up with an email.

Why is anyone recommending Alby for Nostr usage?? It defeats a main purpose of Nostr

Thanks nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m . Maybe i can state on that as a newbie just joined #nostr yesterday. Appreciate your welcome ;-) The technical burden is still quite high compared to set up a #x or whatever fancy #socialnetwork account. 1. Find the right app. 2. Try out 3. Be dissapointed becaus everything is laggy and you feel somehow like nothing works here (at this stage the average user is already lost) 4. Read some how to do's 5. Whatch some #youtube vids 6. start searching for relays that work 7. Search for a way to verify yourself 8. Damn realize you already have five #wallets but non of theese works with #nostr so set up a sixt one and link to your profile ... And so on ... But the point is, that i will not use #X or whatever plattform like i want to use #nostr. Means for me this might be the first time i feel confident to share my thoughts with you guys and maybe even to prepare some content. For me an exciting experience begins now at #nostr and i fxxxxxx don't care about my x account anymore.

The biggest thing is that apps need to come with at least 3 reliable relays right off the bat. There are still apps they include NO relays when you make an account and that is unacceptable

The same people that tell you “there’s no delete on the internet” are the same people that use InternetArchive to make sure they don’t lose their favorite old websites.

Don’t listen to these lazy charlatans. They hate you and think they’re better than you.

Users deserve more. Users deserve to own their own data.

One thing that is never clear in these guides is how to set it up if you only have one user on the domain and the account is just the name of the website.

I’ve tried to get that to work so many different ways with and without the “_” username.

Also, #[1] let’s you have a Name as well as a Username. So which needs to be linked in the well-known file?

Oh it just occurred to me that maybe the re-post icon *never* shows how many re-posts there are? So if I re-post it, i shouldn’t expect that to be reflected in the UI of the original post?

One of the things that never worked in Gun was multiple relays syncing with each other. Like a mesh of relay servers serving the same graph, spreading server load across all of them.

I always wanted to see that working.

You shouldn’t get bugs for the basic, small use cases like in the tutorial. In any case, it’s worth trying if only to see what is possible. Take ideas, etc

A people should be able to determine for themselves what is appropriate for them or not.

I believe in the right to self-determination, even if that means collectivizing and outsourcing things to a government.

Hot take: there is nothing wrong with a government doing this. What is debatable is if Meta is right for showing users this notice or not nostr:note1884grmt8563vwrk88sux8jrw654lxqws934xecg850h0z3aamhusm02hqv
