Dehydrator jerky works really well! My Traeger smoker snob friends didn’t believe it. Also I f you ever find a cheap cured smoked ham, it already has the cure and the smoke done for you and you can just add a bit of pepper to the slices. It’s great!

Alex Honnold. Highly recommend the documentary about his free solo of El Cap. It’s just called that: Free Solo. The only man that will likely ever do it. No ropes. One shot. And a crux move that he fell on in practice while roped a number of times.

Yeah when you are doing all the labour it’s a lot. I’ve seen that those rocket mass heaters just sip firewood and can cut your wood consumption by 2/3rd. I’d like to build one. There’s some good vids on Fouch Family Off Grid that I originally saw it on.
The big challenge I’m finding is that while I do have marketable skills, capitalizing on them while not still doing jobs for businesses that track every invoice can’t get me even half the income I’m making at the fiat mine. They’ve really got us. Especially once you’re all mortgaged up.

The few people I’ve tried being an Uncle Jim for didn’t even have the discipline to safely store their passphrases after being instructed specifically how to do it. Good luck having them remember how to generate and sign psbt’s and broadcast tx’s. We have a couple decades to go at least.
I asked my employer if at the very least I could administer my own deductions and just pay at tax time and their payroll software won’t even permit it anymore if you’re coded as an employee. The only answer is being a contractor for the same company but then my insurance, accounting, vehicle payment and corporate tax would be about equal to what I’m paying now. I feel like the matrix really has us, especially when it’s so easy to pin a guy down at a fixed address at a home they can also take if he evades tax. It’s almost time to exit stage left and go live in the bush. It’s a dilemma when you have dependents.
