i used to think communication was the key until i realized comprehension is. you can communicate all you want with someone but if they don’t understand you or refuse to understand, communication is useless.

I would like to think so, but I think that there will always be groups of people who want to see others fail, who think their opinion matters more, that shouting louder makes them right. Which I’m fine with, I’ll just mute and move on. Perhaps if Nostr is populated first by people who have similar ideas about freedom of speech then, you’re right, the incentives could make this better. 🧐

Lightning is clunky, and there are lots of concerns of edge case protocol failures, but ultimately it is a tool which can potentially 10x Bitcoin scaling. I’m going to keep using it until there is more evidence of plausible critical flaws.

Calling out problems with things everyone thinks is great is cool, but we need solutions to the payments problem. Until a better solution with less complexity or better security is suggested, Lightning must continue to be developed and improved upon.

Mentally fragile people will have a hard time on Nostr. Welcome back to the good old days where people have differing opinions. Nostr is for enemies.

I just believe that scaling Bitcoin payments is a priority over communication and LN while probably flawed is still a beautiful idea worth the time of all the many brilliant devs i see everyday on Nostr.

Everything built on top of Bitcoin are experiments and i agree. Startups with 99% chance of failure. However, LN is not just good for Nostr, almost 6000 BTC committed into the protocol, thousands of nodes, merchant network is also growing while at infancy, a growing number of Bitcoin companies with their business models depending on LN to succeed and a sovereign nation using it.

If LN has critical errors, then competent devs should join forces and focus on improving on what is already built rather than build or improve communication protocols.

Why would Holo use an erc-20 token and not bitcoin, or bitcoin on lightning, or a chaumian solution like Fedimint of cashu?

Is backing an asset by hosting power and capacity not a form of PoW?

I'm Mary the ED of Holochain and we don't have a native token on Holochain. Holo (which is a separate entity from Holochain) is a distributed hosting company and Holo token is our ERC-20 token that is a placeholder for the network microcurrency called HoloFuel.

We don't spend much time trying to compare HoloFuel to BTC as we are not attempting to be a 'store of value' per se. HoloFuel is a mutual credit currency that is purpose-fit for backing the asset of Hosting power and capacity on a network and its primary utility is for app mangers to pay hosts for app hosting services on the network. HoloFuel is a currency app built on Holochain which is a peer-to-peer data integrity framework.

We don't ever refer to anything as Holo coin so if that is the starting point of a conversation it's probably not all accurate. The part that was accurate is that we are not PoW or PoS and there are other ways to ensure network security when the design is to match a different purpose.
