That is not true. It all depends on your needs and what you want to accomplish. You can run a personal relay to backup and store your own notes and events on a Raspberry Pi.

Hmm. I'm not really sure how to respond to the account deletion question. You could remove their private key from the app upon deletion. Their data would still exist across Nostr though. You could purge any event related to their public key on your Damus relay, but that seems like a lot of work that doesn't solve anything since the data exists on other relays. I wonder if writing another filter would be sufficient? Basically a mute or block of yourself upon account deletion. Anyone that deletes their account would be added to basically a global Damus mute list where no Damus user would be able to see that user's content? It's kind of hacky, but that may work?
