I think it can be a harmful preoccupation for many people. Others are genuinely interested in world affairs and for them it's like any other interest people have.
I'm professionally obligated to stay somewhat informed on global issues, but I don't think that's any different than a mechanic staying informed on new car features.
In general, I think people would be better off knowing more about their immediate surroundings and less about the other side of the world.
This is the first time I've been able to see my notifications in weeks. It's nice to hear from someone out there in the void.
I noticed the YouTube censorship affecting how people talk in weird ways (like saying "un-aliving" because "suicide" gets videos flagged). My immediate reaction was that conforming to those algorithms can't be good for your brain.
I think free expression on nostr is going to really improve people's mental health.
Steve Carrel said something very similar about Michael Scott (just swap "office" for "family").
I like the point you're making, but I think we need to keep workshopping the right replacement terminology.
Zapping can be done for its own sake.
TLDR; It's a good analogy to get people thinking about what money really is, but it's wrong in some pretty important fundamental ways.
Yeah, I've been impressed by how many carnivores at least see the importance of organic pasture raised animals. Despite their diet being antithetical to ours, they clearly aren't the biggest problem and there's a shocking amount of agreement.

It's a good point about your particular consumer bundle, but if we're using a catchall metric then the average reflects the fact that most people are changing their bundles. What's lost in that case is the likelihood that they preferred the previous bundle to the current one.
There's also the possibility that someone's bundle consists of goods that don't inflate as quickly as average, which is often the case for less-processed goods: like produce and beans.
They are suspiciously scared of crosses
🚨WATCH: On September 11, 2001, at 5:20 PM, World Trade Center Building 7, a structure of 47 stories, succumbed to a structural failure despite NOT been hit by an aircraft. #september11 https://video.nostr.build/e25327ed035b77d56de6b58d76b60eae1b540a2a29187e6aec1fb30430a83cb6.mov
So, what's the theory here? They forgot to CGI in the plane or just never bothered to brainstorm a cover story?
I think my wife and I offend her family members whenever we see them in person, because at some point they ask if we (she really) use TikTok and we must give them pretty disgusted looks, based on their reactions.
Embrace the label
Reject the stigma
We don't need regime cultists
We need to be open and welcoming for people who wake up
