Revolut is specifically banning #GrapheneOS by checking for the build machine hostname and username being set to 'grapheneos'. We've changed these to build-host and build-user. Combined with another change, this allow our users to log in to it again until they roll out Play Integrity API enforcement.

There's no legitimate excuse for banning using a much more private and secure operating system while permitting devices with no security patches for a decade. Meanwhile, Revolut's shoddily made app tells users they're banning GrapheneOS because they're "serious about keeping your data secure".

Revolut's app will stop working against once they start enforcing having a Play Integrity API result showing it's a Google certified device. This is not a security feature but rather anti-competitive behavior from Google deployed by apps like Revolut wanting to pretend they care about security.

Revolut uses a bunch of shady closed source third party libraries in their app and it's one of these libraries banning GrapheneOS. These libraries are a major security risk and put user data at risk of being compromised. Revolut is not taking user security seriously at all and is cutting corners.

Hey Amy. Nostr is a bit rough around the edges and not all Nostr apps are the same. Decentralization is hard! Some are better at finding people and content than others. If the app that you're using isn't the best at finding people, then it's up to you to do the work and be social. You can search hashtags and keywords. You can comment on other people's notes and let them know that you're here. I think you're using Damus, right? It's a great app but I'll say that Primal does a slightly better job at user and content discovery with different feeds. You can take your secret or private key from Damus and enter it into Primal and give it a try. Nostr let's you take "your account" and login to many different Nostr apps to see what others have to offer.

The hand, the most overlooked conveyor of emotion.

Often in art, our eyes tend to lock onto the faces of the figures we’re looking at, which is only natural, the eyes capture our interest, the facial expressions fill us with emotion and curiosity.

But people often ignore something i think is equally as important, the hands. The hands are usually a background characteristic, as in something you dont look at immediately when seeing a piece of art. But in their posture and gesture, the hands can be the most expressive feature.

Think of the immense vocabulary of the human touch. A gentle caress shows love, comfort and joy. A clenched fist, clawing fingers or fidgeting hands express worry, anger, pain and grief. Keen artists throughout history have understood this unnoticed language.

Prediction: to compete with proprietary nostr relays, others will have to build their own proprietary apis to deliver similar value. People will stop caring about interoperability and nostr just becomes isolated twitter-like islands just like before. Most clients then become light clients for these proprietary relays, and users lose control over which relays they can choose to talk to.

This is starting to happen today, how do we prevent this? VCs and people trying to make money won’t care about the hard work of protocol dev and interoperability, in fact, its in their interest to explicitly make it harder for other clients to have similar functionality via protocol improvements.

nostr could go down a very bad path very soon. Which way do you choose anon? Give up on the protocol for shiny new features? Or support less featured clients focused on interoperability? I suspect most will choose the former 😔
