Lightning Network is integrated natively into Nostr. Along with setting a profile picture and a description, you can also set a few more fields in your nostr profile.
One of such fields is a LNURL. Its called lightning URL. Some wallets like Wallet of Satoshi, Bitcoin Beach Wallet, etc., support LNURL which you can attach to your profile. And once you do that anyone can send you Bitcoin(and sats) to your lightning wallet address.
And by tapping the lightning icon below every note(tweet), you can send zaps to others as well.
Why was Nostr built? You can find that in the article above written by the founder of Nostr.
Tldr: Nostr is the epitome of a decentralized social media. #[5] one day woke up and thought about how a decentralized social media would look like and was surprised nobody had thought of such an obvious model. So he laid the tracks to build what we now know and love as Nostr. He has got tons of support from the early adoptors and builders to achieve his vision along the way.

Spot on. And the FDA corruption is so prevalent, almost hard to fine one article that justly summarizes the numerous bad actions and broken incentives. There is literally a Wikipedia page detailed FDA “criticism” that highlights their failings/corruption.

We should stop getting surprised whenever a centralised entity is corrupt, duh! It's the nature of such organizations. There's no incentive for them to act faithfully in favour of strangers.
A human will use all the methods available in his disposal to make as much money as possible.
If someone isn't doing this, then they have an ulterior motive(gain public favor for more power to make more money or go to heaven)

I feel like we still have a lot of faith in these brands run by strangers.

As we transition to the decentralized universe, how are we imagining user experiences and business opportunities to look like? What are people imagining the ecosystem will become? How will we verify "official" communications? How will we circumvent proliferation of spam and abuse? How will we monetize? How will capital and commerce try to exploit the system and what resources and constraints will exist for the people to resist?

These are all tough questions. To build a better world, we need to understand the flaws of the current world.
There are flaws everywhere, people scam people through information arbitrage all the time. Govts are corrupt and create a unlevel playing ground favoring the players that bribe them, the tax is mandatory and monopolistic, which leads to very little consequences for incompetency, the surveillance state is constantly watching for anomalies in their matrix and are inventing new methods to squash us, we can't band up IRL because there are so many restrictions IRL and is expensive for the new entrant. Businesses can't easily build on Nostr because the establishment needs you doxxed to offramp.
There are many problems we need to solve in the new world we're building. First thing we need to do is to enable a way for businesses to start in our country. This will lead to employees and satisfied users when they see the value in it.
