Hey Jack, i love that vision as well. Open source projects are the best to build on top of. But the biggest problem i see is that, the devs don't know how to monetize open source projects. Do you?
The best example of a large scale open source project being monetized is Android. There are many versions by different phone manufacturers. But they all use Google Play Store, which rakes in billions for the Android core maintainer, Google.
We need to figure our monetization models. Yes, Bitcoin worked well because everyone contributing to Bitcoin owned a large chunk of it. Its a win win. How do we replicate this model for other open source projects? Say, Graphene OS, how can they monetize?
Yep. That's the image i have of Mastadon users lol. Crazies.
I've never met anyone who uses Mastadon. Even on Twitter. I've met many Nostr users. Maybe Mastadon users aren't proud to admit it in public.
Reasons to incentivize zapping:
1. Let the creators earn by incentivizing their followers to zap them by giving their followers special badges in their reply sections.
2. 69 sats for people that give answers i agree with(I'm rational i'd say)
I believe that we need to create natural incentives as opposed to artificial incentives. Or naturally align incentives with your incentives.
If your Nostr client helps your users earn money better, then you're creating value that you can ask your users to pay for.
All the counter arguments will be rewarded 42 sats.
I don't see why anything needs to be "incentivized". How do you know that zapping more than whats happening naturally is good?
It is as though Nostr would earn tax from zapping and wants to incentivize zapping with shiny badges. It'll be pointless if someone ever does it. Anyway.
Here's a true incentive for zapping:
If you tell me 5 creative ways of using zapping for your benefits, I'll zap you 69 sats for each.
It actually is good for their economy because inflation means people will spend more. More spending = more taxes they can mismanage.
A cherry on top: Inflation = people will deposit money into FD to beat it. And they can tax it as capital gains. What a joke.
I don't want to spend to buy unnecessary things.
I don't to use your economic system so that you can take more of my money.
Haha. I'll speak out about the "programmable money".
I joined Nostr not just because i'll find Bitcoiners here. But also because its permissionless, uncensorable by a single party, and values free speech over controlling speech.
Well said. Freedom to do anything that you think is just. Freedom to do anything your IRL society thinks is just.
Without privacy, your freedom is taken away by some random internet group living on the other side of the world.
Tbh toggling relays isn't a great UX. This ux can be thought through in a different way.
I think zappeddit communities are a good start.
And we can have curators for normal nostr.
As a dual coiner. I've been kinda hesitant talking about Ethereum here lol.
Yeah. This can be a bounty platform for digital services.
We need to break away from Apple's clutches. Its all a trade off. I'd say user an Android for crypto stuff and an iPhone for daily Fiat stuff.
We need freedom to innovate in payments. We shouldn't be asking the regulators to approve us for every single. Honestly, it's disgusting that we have to do that.
Can you pls link to these?
Insecticides kill insects.
Lack of insects starve birds.
Decrease in bird population leads to less carriers of tree seeds.
Who needs to pay for the second order effects? A city state needs to protect its insect population by restricting insecticides. Will we?
Spot on. I see many americans complaining that being anon is bad for the industry. Not like the US is super safe, but a lot safer than most countries.
Safety is the main reason being anon is important.
Let's have a discussion. How important is anonimity in our world right now?
Every thoughtful reply will get zapped 69 sats #zaps
i thought Relayers censoring would lead to censoring notes similar to spams. Of course, different relayers would have different methods, so this wont be an issue.
Okay. Relayers can do the censoring. Since not every relayer is gonna have the same filtering mechanisms, it won't be an issue. 🫂
