A redeemed πŸ™ and insatiably curious woman on the home front 🏑 Author and clinical herbalist in the PNW 🌲

Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers and zaps for my little kitty's return πŸ™. I could hardly believe my eyes when she just came running in! πŸ₯°

My children's composition is finished. It looks great and tastes good, too. My six year old approves! It will store in the fridge for a few months (better in an amber jar, but this is what I had available).

Appreciate you all 🐈

I'm a little bummed. One of our kitties was let out yesterday early evening (by mistake) and hasn't been seen yet. I'm guessing owl food πŸ™

I'm keeping an eye out. Hoping.

Meanwhile, I'm making a calendula balm for a friend's cow. She uses it on the udder to keep it all soft. I like to powder the herb and rehydrate it for a bit with a little alcohol first to get a better extraction. I wish she could/would pay me in Bitcoin!

Hope you all have a good day and your pets stay safe and sound ❀️

This was such an interesting read. Even if you find your tribe, don't give up your own curiosity and critical thinking! The war for your mind is very real.

😞 the lack of critical thinking, much less even curiosity, is frightening (or even a willingness to consider you've been wrong in the face of plain or growing evidence). Even more frightening is the ease of throwing (or even gently offering) loved ones to the wolves if they challenge whatever happens to be sold as truth on the evening news. Standing on truth is costly; most people would rather be comfortable in their delusions, no matter what the fallout is.

Principled chiropraTORS look to remove interferences (called subluxations) so that you can have a proper and unimpeded nervous system flow to every part of your body. They do this with precision via an adjustment (not a "manipulation"), which gets to the root of a whole lot of issues. A typical back pain that shows up suddenly is just revealing ("suddenly") what was lurking under the surface for who knows how long. Just like any other profession, there are good chiro's and bad ones. Look for a practice that is full of people who take responsibility for their own health seriously and make a healthy spine and nervous system part of their lifestyle. Watch out for docs who are deep in the weeds of an insurance model or are happy just to see you only when you're in pain (that's kind of like saying you'll only eat healthy when you're sick). Many chiros also coach in lifestyle and dietary issues. It's worth finding a good one; ask around as the best ones are always word of mouth. The AMA tried to put them out of business and they're still at it with their ultra rare neck-stroke stories that not only provide no context but fail to address how many people die every year due to properly prescribed medications. I happen to be married to a principled Chiro (one who understands the history, philosophy, and art of chiropractic) but after seeing the decades of results of those who get adjusted and those who don't, I pray I'll never be far from getting my spine checked and receiving a good chiropractic adjustment when needed (esp before pain shows up). In any case, I hope you feel better real soon.

P.S. the TORS part is one that a principled chiropractic doctor would understand (vs a DC who doesn't understand or respect their history or philosophy)

Here's a pic of the simmering glycerite. Covering and simmering this way keeps the aromatic oils from escaping. This is a pretty light potency, 1:10.

Included here is yarrow, elder flowers, various mints (including lemon balm, subspecies), and chamomile. Antiviral and antiinflammatory, helpful for colds, flu, fever, circulation and digestion.

A good glycerite will keep for a few months. Great for kiddos or people who are sober or otherwise not wanting alcohol (as a tincture).

The sunshine is pouring through the skylight (YAY-winter sun in the PNW is not taken for granted!) so l'm heading out to take a walk in a bit and see what birds have stuck around and what berries they are finding. Hawthorn I've discovered already.

Meanwhile, taking inventory of herbs and preparations that need to be made. Starting off with a children's glycerite, sealed and simmered to maintain the volatile oils.

I have a lot of satisfying work ahead this wintry day and pray the same is true for you all.

Feels SO GOOD to be home. Watched the latest Highwire on the plane and it just hit me hard, the whole indoctrination going on 😞 It feels like a war. I think it really is one.

Finished up some #crochet projects today!

A cotton carseat blanket for Sophia that mostly matches the shawl I made while driving on nostr:npub1jrx2fk666k5nt8vgak9xwyxlgcwh8fl9rvpwvvcpdthuqkcnptrqdfhtaq and my honeymoon (same yarns, similar but different patterns)

Finally put a button on this bag crocheted from silk sari scraps which I keep charging equipment in

Aw sweet baby ❀️ and your handwork looks beautiful! Nicely done!

I am SO looking forward to get my seeds started for spring. I'm going to remove a piece of furniture from my dining room and make way instead for a shelving unit there bc that's where the best lighting is. Plus, I dunno....maybe the vibe of seeds + place of eating together will lead to more growth (for all involved) 🌱

While visiting extended family, I quietly became even more committed to my own food values and life values. I felt like such a foreigner about God, food, health, entertainment, politics, etc ad nauseum. I couldn't wait to get back home to my husband and children and to inventory my seed bank and make a whole lot more herbal medicines. Onwards.

Good morning! I hope you all are staying well and cozy this winter. We've gotten a few bits of snow already. Puzzles are definitely out, as are board games and books. As much as I love warmer weather, I do appreciate a season of rest (even--or especially--when I don't want it!). I'm also decluttering more which always feels good, though it's harder to do that with so many people living in the house.

I'd love to hear more about what your two years looked like. If you don't mind sharing here and there.
