Hi #privacy enthusiasts,

It seems like the EU is more and more undemocratically (no referendums EU, you are not representing the people's will...) clamping down on privacy with the ChatControl measure: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/chat-control/

My question is what do you recommend as an alternative?

1. XMPP

2. Element/Matrix

3. Signal

4. Threema

5. Jami

6. Anything else?

I'm a bit out of the loop and was wondering what do you recommend?

Thanks!

Yes! I think it's related to the Economic Complexity perspective, in other words, the idea (or phenomena really) that it is complexity as in different industries, ideas, skills, philosophies working in synergy create a more resilient and better economy. https://oec.world/en/rankings/eci/hs6/hs96?tab=ranking

This is also found in nature as seen for example in the work of Ernst Gotsch Syntropic Agriculture. Basically the more biodiversity and density of plants, trees, etc, the more productive that area is.

It's fascinating. So yes, idea complexity is what perhaps will work. So in other words Bitcoin, Monero, entrepreneurship, AI, Web3, transparency, tokenization, electronics, technology, etc, etc, the people with a more well-rounded approach will probably create more complex/resilient economies.

The most important thing I see failing time and time again, in myself and in the people around me, is having a clear vision and milestones to achieve it.

I've found that having a 5 year vision (inserted in an overall life vision, dream, etc) of where we would like to be is absolutely fundamental. A vision with what kind of work (career, business, personal, etc), what kind of life, what kind of people around me, etc, etc, with as many specifics as possible, etc, is fundamental to answer the why are we doing anything and to avoid falling into cycles of nihilism, negativity and fear. At least in my personal experience.

Writing a 5 year vision/dream and then daily looking into it and confirm that we're tasks are aligned with it I think has a lot to it. It's the answer to the "what AND why do I really have to do right now?". The question/answer to that question then becomes, "where do I want to be in 5 years (remembering that, bringing that to mind, visualizing, inspiring ourselves on that dream/vision) and then using the left part of the brain "how can I do more today to get to that specific vision more real today"?" becomes the habit and flow. Every task we do today becomes incredibly meaningful that way.

It's a form of CBT also I think. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Visualization and then focus. It's a form of getting into the mindset of abundance AND focusing on the tasks, goals, path. I think we absolutely need to see where we're going to get there. Can we really get anywhere without a map?

The 5 year vision/dream and the intermediate milestones are one of my treatments for fear, nihilism and setbacks. Just remembering/"vibing" in the frequency (imagining, visualizing, consciously seeing it) that there is a possible dream and that I maybe can get there completely changes my daily attitude and mood.

Without a vision, plan, roadmap, we can't go anywhere because we don't know where we want to go.

For example, I really don't think it's a coincidence that Buddhism for example, described 2500 years ago Right View (vision) as the first step to a better life (the 8th fold path). All modern psychological methods are also based around this (although often therapists fail to use it). The Greeks called it "know thyself" and they wrote it at the top of their most prized Temple of Apollo in Athens.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_thyself

Do you really know yourself and where you'd like to go? Do you have that written down and remind yourself of that daily?

Writing it down maybe will help see things more clearly, bringing much more focus and clarity to everything. Writing is thinking as they say.

Anyways, just wanted to share these thoughts. Have a great day on your side. Visualize and keep grinding. We're all together on that path :)

The issue with fiat is that it centralized capital drastically.

By controlling the money flow, states have managed to create silos, that either work well or very bad, depending on the competence of their leaders (and everything else).

Bitcoin will create more opportunities for individuals to create their own economies/communities/ecosystems around the world.

This was already possible with digital payment systems but Bitcoin/Monero will take it to another level.

I don't think most people understand the size of the disconnect between reality and what the status quo (government, common culture, everyday people, etc) tells us.

We're basically slaves to huge capital funds and to government power, working in tandem using fiat currency... and most people seem to be fine with this? I talk to fiat friends that are smart, have all the free time in the world, know a bit of history and yet can't connect the dots, even after being directly informed by what's going on.

But enough complaining.

What I really wish is that there was an easy way to find more people interested in building stuff on Nostr. Creating projects, companies, businesses, projects, etc. Much more collaboration.

Collaboration is the only way the Bitcoin/Monero/Nostr ecosystem will grow. It's the only way freedom grows.

Collaboration is the key.

What are you building and what help do you need?

If we focus on solving our economic problem, everything else is solved.

Are you focusing in solving your economic problem?

Just had a thought. It's a long one so bear with me...

Public goods generally cannot be wholly controlled by a single private company. If people attempt to surrender control of the public good to a single private company attempting to enforce a monopoly on it, the public good will be neglected, other options will still remain on the market (and those able to understand this catastrophe and the existemce of alternatives will patronize them), and the private entity entrusted with sole control over the good will use the inadequacies of its own handiwork as a pretense to get more funding to attempt to "solve the crisis" that it either still believes it can solve or still tries to convince other fools that it can solve.

Government, as I hope is obvious, is the premier private entity whose whole business model is monopoly and promising more than it can achieve, and is predicated on exactly this dynamic.

A pet theory of mine about natural monopoly that I've been developing:

The information and feedback mechanisms necessary to properly manage a resource, if they cannot fit into one mind or one private decision making unit, indicate that the resource cannot be a natural monopoly.

A natural monopoly can only occur in matters such as an owner over its private property, where the economic actor who owns the monopoly has, exclusively, the complete information necessary to direct the resource (property) to its most economical/ethical/important uses. If there is such a thing as authority, this theoretical limit is the boundary of its exclusive domain.

A customer at the grocery store who buys an orange now has sole control of that orange, knows its location in his car and later at home, knows where the guns are in his house for defending his property, knows what he needs the orange for, etc. He knows very little about all the other oranges at the store, which are a different resource, and even less about all the oranges in existence, which the store does not have the knowledge to control either. It would be impossible for this store or this customer to control all oranges. Voting doesn't magically transfer the knowledge either. Each actor controls its resource, but the public good of oranges is not wholly controlled by anyone. #Bitcoin is the same exact way, a public good with a distrubuted and immutable ledger, incentive framework, and verification system that no single private entity controls. Property rights under nature work this way. It is the way the world is. We are actually living in anarchy right now, but most people, even anarchists are deluded into thinking we are not. The government is merely a criminal that results in tremendous opportunity costs versus the alternative of people acknowledging the truth of their limited understanding and that of other people.

This theory of property/natural monopoly usually works out to exactly the kind of private property delineations that libertarians define. Sole ownership of a resource is determined not only by deontological or pragmatic oughts, nor only by the norms that tend to develop in greater degrees of rationality and human capital, but also by the very nature of reality and the frontier of possibilities itself. It is an observation of the Natural Law, the way things actually work as a fact.

Swiss democracy. It’s the best way to define common ownership, in my opinion :)

Transparency and ownership share will (or is) changing everything.

It's a bit weird yeah...

But yeah there's a lot of interesting subs still. Great content on Reddit. Wish they moved to Nostr though...

Is the sub-reddit r/Europe an echo chamber or does it really represent more or less the average European?

It's just strange, everybody seems to think the same way, have the same opinions. Is this normal? Does Reddit really reflect the average European?

#nostr #europe

Ahaha, Mama Free Speech.

Better systems not better leaders. Sorry Elon.

Ahah, sí hay gente por aqui! Lo que pasa es que somos pocos :)

We're beginning to have the greatest opportunity for freedom that we've ever had as a whole in the history of humanity.

We have never been as connected as this. We have never had as many tools as this.

We have never been as close to the truth as this, as a whole.

But it's going to be shaky.

Just hang in there. Keep calm and carry on. We're going to get there.

I've given up on it :D

Are you working on something similar?
