Recovering egotist stuck in the rabbit hole.

Do your own research, but my research has turned up zero evidence of this being real.

“Inflation” is not what the Fed tells you it is.

Inflation is simply the increase in new Fiat currency within the system.

For the US, it’s the M2 monetary supply. That’s the best metric for actual inflation.

That sounds like it could be applied to the US as well, but you can just take a test to get the equivalent of a high school diploma.

The workaround here is to start a business.

Back to basics… it will be similar to how society existed for millennia prior to the 1800s.

Your family, your community. Find it. Be careful with the tendency to become complacent. You get one chance at this.

I didn’t know that was a thing. What country is that?

Thank you for sharing. I was once on the other end of the home schooling discussion with my children. My father was a high school teacher, and we did the things that everyone else did. Socializing our children back then did not mean turning them into Socialists. Most regarded homeschooling to be only for the weird people. Myself included at the time.

Now, after having witnessed decades of public school nonsense, I am now fully in support of homeschooling and encourage everyone to consider doing so if it can work for you. If not, consider private education (after careful consideration). If you cannot afford that or simply choose the public school route, be PRESENT in the parenting of your children. It is your duty and responsibility.

Do not be tempted to outsource parenting to the public schools and other State apparatuses.

On a recent #Bitcoin podcast a person I respect (but cannot recall exactly who due to podcast overload this week) made an analogy of Bitcoin’s network adoption to that of the Internet. He said that current Bitcoin adoption is comparable to the Internet in 1989.

I strongly disagree. It’s much more comparable to Internet adoption in 1990.

Thinking on this more, I disagree that the bad actor wants for the entire Core team to be labeled as bad actors. They don’t want that. They want to continue as-is, subtly, undetected so they can continue their campaign of long-game erosion against Bitcoin’s ethos.

If everyone moved to Knots today the miners would have no choice but to comply by publishing blocks that are compliant with the rules of the network.

But… agreed. Still, running Knots now is a worthy signal for what needs to come. This is a wakeup call for everyone to put aside their assumptions that Bitcoin is perfectly indestructible, and to start asking questions about the node software(s) that makes Bitcoin run.

Key word being "most".

You, of all people that I have listened to hours upon hours from a fountain of based knowledge, I would certainly expect to assume that at least one bad actor (with ulterior and less-than-maxi motives) has snuck their way into the trusted circle of the Bitcoin Core team and supporting followers.

1) As nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd4hk6tcqyq2q3wksfxat3gutjas8ttl7gy7r2gdmammze3xwx42jn86fw8ev55jgrpw points out, it's disingenuous to point out that there are "hardly any" OP_RETURNs in the chain because the filters they're getting rid of are actually doing their job.

2) This "update" does nothing to address the root problem, which is using other schemes to stuff data into the chain.

3) Finally, the phrasing "we hope" has REPEATEDLY been used to preface reasoning. Bitcoin is not something you leave to hope.

4) Unlimited OP_RETURN data storage is an invite to all other $hitcoin chains and VCs to pivot into Bitcoin with affinity scams with "bitcoin" in their name.

Activity on the Ethereum and Solana $hitcoin factories will begin to migrate to the Bitcoin Network. This is hardly nothing. Bitcoin Core 30.0 , weakens Bitcoin, and changes Bitcoin's direction away from becoming "perfect money".

It's safest to assume at least 1 bad actor is on the team, possibly more. How should that scenario then be handled?

Ethereum devs are also focused on improving how Ethereum "works".

Am I too not in this community? Are you?

That’s the idea. Even a minority of nodes rejecting large OP_RETURN transactions (spam, arbitrary data, non-monetary database-like information) can disrupt the process and lead to orphaned blocks.

That will cause miners pain and they’ll eventually use the same filters as the nodes to reduce the risk of not getting rewarded.

15/20. Got caught off guard initially, then paid attention, then lost the last 3.

We're doomed.

Your seat is a touch too low. Raise it an inch (or two) and let your future knees thank you. You'll also benefit from your larger muscles doing the work. 🙂

Sorry, but today the sun is not out for Bitcoin.

A few Core Devs gaslit and steamrolled their way into merging a pull request that was vehemently opposed and not even well-supported by "Core Devs" at large.

Rather than showing the clear opposition (the "nays" / NACKs) as was usual for prior PRs the summary was changed to only show the "ayes" (ACKs). This disingenuous move made it look like the PR was entirely supported. Amazingly, after approving, the PR now shows the ACKs AND NACKs.

Reading through the details in the PR shows a very different story.

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32406

Is this the day Bitcoin begins to die? I surely hope not (although "hope" was a word used repeatedly as reasoning for why this PR would actually benefit Bitcoin, as in "we hope this will work").

FWIW, 3% of Core Devs wrote an open letter expressing their opinion (obviously having permission to the Core website), with little-to-no proper debate that includes the majority in dissent.

It's time to take a serious look at the Bitcoin Core process before it becomes a worldwide virtual government organization. Who is paying Gloria Zhao (Chaincode)? Who is paying Peter Todd as he defends Citrea as the primary use case for the change, citing concerns for "millions of dollars of [VC] funding" (his words), and appeasing large mining companies?

How are we not seriously concerned about this? "GM" has now replaced "how 'bout that game last night".

I’ve been waiting to make this post for some time now, not so much because of the new ATH but because this song is great.
