The UX of most of the nostr clients is quite jumpy. I mean like when sometimes Twitter reloads your itmeline and you lose that one thing you wanted to read. But in nostr it's ubiquitous, click on the note to read the comments, click back, oh, here are refetched timeline. Like what? 🤨

Tried to pinpoint my feelings lately, For fun I just put three things that resonated with me lately and asked LLM to explore the mood trio of Orbital's "Illuminate" video, "Lost in Translation" film, and Nakagin Capsule Tower.
It's reponse was "Melancholic futuristic nostalgia - that liminal space between past and future, isolation amid technology's glow."

I would argue that algorithms follow the old adage "good servant, bad master." Currently, bootstrapping your feed to contain more posts you would like to see is... quite hard, I would say. While we don't necessarily need a tag cloud, having some ways to easily discover who to follow (who may or may not be on this platform) is quite tedious. You can haphazardly browse keywords, but having the ability to actually see what's out there would be nice.
That seems to be exlusively for the askNostr tag, I ment overview for general usage.
Is there any client/program that would create something like a tag cloud for the past day/week/all? #askNostr
The discoverability without the algo is quite a thorny path.
Closest thing I have found are those Bitcoin ATMs. Will try to make deposit, if it supports LN. But just to satisfy curiosity. I am currently using my exchange account to buy and send via LN 😟

- doesn't support blossom servers for uploading
- when sending reply in DM it sometimes freezes and lost the message
- can't use "open in new tab" easily

- doesn't load messages for me
- somehow I have plenty of relays, so outbox is somehow supported (even pointing on some local IP, wtf?), but missed comment, had to manually add realy that other client picked up noprob

- shows only my side of encrypted messages? sometimes
- weird caching when changing profiles, have to force reload twice to get rid of all the UX artefacts
- show notifications twice for replies to your note, once like "replied to your note", second "mentioned you in a note". I get it's because the reply is tagged both by npub and nevent, but still confusing at first, annoying second

and dont get me started on PoW support, rebroadcasting notes (one of the few things that often helps, rebroadcast outboxed note to my relays so that other clients can see it right away and hopefully add to box too)
Lot's of clients tries to look like x/bluesky whatever, but under the hood hides pitfalls of nostr nature. It will take a while to solve these problems IMO 😕

Really love the monero idea. I mean bitcoin has great adoption, but the lack of fungibility makes me a little sad.
Unfortunately it seems that any development in this would be firstly misused by malignant actors, so what's the way forward? Grow so big that you can't get cancelled by fiat institutions and focus on privacy then?
