But a definitive way to know it’s a native persimmon would be to just touch the tip of your tongue to some unripe flesh… it’ll be super astringent and make the area of your tongue feel really dry.

Looks to be an Amanita family. Identifying from pictures is unreliable though. You could try your hand at identifying the spores under a microscope if you have one.

Definitely need to take regular time to relax and enjoy the little stuff. I say this fully knowing I burn at both ends on a regular basis.
