Why do people dislike raspi now?

For me it's power issues. I've had two Raspi4s die on me (ssd/sd card corrupted) and I think each time it was due to an ill-timed power outage or momentary power dropout.

So Raspi4 + UPS is probably maybe okay. Just underpowered and overpriced.

Mini PC + UPS def robust and reliable.

Old laptop w/built-in battery just about ideal for people that just want to keep things simple.

For data backups, my strategy is moving toward:

* virtualizing containers via ProxMox

* dual mini-PC ProxMox cluster

* nvme system drive in each mini PC

* 2 TB ssd data drive for each

* 8 TB mirrored NAS spinning hdds storing scheduled backups from the 2TB data drive AND the ProxMox container image/snapshots.

So any system nvme can fail, any 2TB data ssd can fail, and either of the physical mini PCs can die and I'd still be able to rebuild everything as long as one of the mirrored hdds survives.

And all of this is kind of just tech ops LARPing as I really don't need this level of redundancy and failover. I don't run LN so the vast majority of my node data is totally unimportant (lost my node data? Meh, IBD again).

We are beginning the development process for transmitting Nostr events in a peer-to-peer fashion, away from relays. This will start with Gift-wrapped DMs, Private Attachments, Private zaps, Private Text Notes, and Private Reactions; and will be the preferred transmission choice if both users are online, falling back to relays when they are not. Our Push Notification system already transmitted over 500,000 GiftWrapped Nostr events that relays will never see. With a full P2P this will get even better and will open the doors for voice and video calls directly inside Amethyst. Side-stepping relays won't be easy or quick. And I am sure we will get strong pushback from relay operators. But we will get there. And while this might start as an Amethyst feature, it will be a NIP and other clients will be able to join the privacy train.

Nostr is just starting.

The Behmor is more of a "for fun" consumer-level roaster. It has some factory presets that give good results with minimal input, or you can get more into it and roast by manual control. No user-defined presets, though. For the money, I don't think it can be beat. There aren't a lot of 1 lb. capable roasters out there that aren't really expensive. Sweet Maria's has some good videos showing the roaster and how to get the best results. I highly recommend them for info, equipment, and green coffee.
