I’m pretty sure masks will have saved some people’s lives… killed some other people… and produced no conclusive evidence for either.
Also, 10,000’s of old people die every year from viruses they catch off their grand kids.
It’s normal, seeing your grandkids is a worthwhile risk, even if it kills you 1 in 100 times!
Keep seeing this same comparison to 2008 repeated and it’s super misleading.
Where is Bear Stearns?
Where is Lehman Brothers?
Where is Fannie Mae + Freddie Mac?
Where is AIG?
Where is RBS?
You have less than 15% of 2008’s big failures in this data set. Why?
What happens if I boost said note?
It’s none of those things, sperm counts have been falling all across the world for decades.
Takes a healthy couple in early 20’s an average of 6 months to conceive and much longer by age 35.
It’s more likely to be something really stupid like the rising polyester content of male underwear. https://nostr.build/i/e8ef886a7d2da4ae165b7fedd21e5350054776f2f7cebf80e98930790ee6bc90.webp
Depends what you mean by “bank failure”.
Where is Lehman? Fannie Mae? Freddie Mac? AIG? All much bigger than WAMU.
Also JPM will report record bonuses after having all their loses socialised, again.
Paying $1 trillion in annual interest payments is bewildering.
An aircraft carrier is $10bn so this is 100 aircraft carriers every year. It’s 1,000 aircraft carriers per decade.
It would be cheaper to lose 1 aircraft carrier every 3 days than to service this debt.
It doesn’t seem affordable.
May Day is boating accident day.
Happy May Day!
Used FreeCAD simply because it has a solid API, is open source, is easy to scale.
It’s already way past that.
For example, it knows what a crankshaft is and can write FreeCAD code that produces a crankshaft.
It can produce manufacturing drawings.
I’ve held design reviews with it, and it’s corrected the design.
It’s absurd.
Some normies don’t understand what is happening with AI at the moment, but AUTO-GPT + FreeCAD API is soon going to be a wake up moment that blows everyone’s mind.
I can now prompt the automated design of fairly complex mechanical components on servers in my garage.
We are not far away (weeks/months) from AI designing complex machines, and designing machines that build machines. In fact no new technology is required, only a rigorous process for the AI to follow.
There’s now a clear path to a self replicating machine ecosystems that doesn’t require a currency, it just acquires resources and energy and invests resources and energy in its own growth.
There’s actually a non zero chance that wealth as we know it, becomes an obsolete concept.
It now seems shere’s a massive proliferation chain reaction now underway. All sparked by LLM technology.
Yeah, medicine is the one field where I know that I know absolutely zero. 😂
I just don’t understand it at all. I know anatomy and some basic stuff but medicine is the opposite side of the map of human knowledge to all the thing I’ve spent time on.
These knowledge maps are cool if you haven’t seen them, it’s worth learning about the structure (and the gaps!).
Hmmm, a society that puts a high priority on having children and educating them, stands to inherit everything.
In the beginning, learning is the journey to the frontier of knowledge. To know what is known.
But once you get there, you stare out into the abyss and then you realise. Our maps are small.
