Good idea.

I want to have a relay specifically dedicated to storing and never allowing deletion of dumb takes on bip300.

I think if we had done a better job at shaming the anti ctv people, we wouldn't be stuck having to deal with bad takes from people like nvk now (who was doing all he could to fud ctv before everyone realized it was an obvious win).

It's terrible that the main debate to determine the future of bitcoin is taking place on such an evil platform.

Bip300 is the pivot point for future arguments to just be settled in code and not politics. If you like big blocks, buy in to a bigblock side chain, if you like some other project, no need to get the approval of everyone and their grandmother to try it out.

If nodes reject this, it means bitcoin is democratic, and not ruled by code.

Democratic money is fiat money.

Miners would be interested in Drivechain simply for the fact that it exacerbates transactions and puts them more in control.

Drivechain offers nothing that isnt already solved by..

- sidechains built on elements like liquid

- fedimints

- altcoins

There is no compelling reason for users to push for drive chains other than a form of grift by control, influence, and affinity scamming. To make it clear, Drive chains do not scale, coins on them ARE NOT BITCOIN, and will not convince altcoins to remake themself as a Drivechain.

And therein lies the problem. I’m not opposed to drivechains conceptually, but I believe it needs to be implemented trustlessly or it’s just an epic rug waiting to happen.

You could argue that the risks are known, so the amount of value locked in a drivechain reflects both the utility and the inherent risk of theft, and you might be right.

Personally though, I can’t support something I see as fundamentally flawed.

What’s the difference between Taproot and Drivechain, as far as getting accepted and activated, for non-technical people?

I feel like Taproot was over promised and has under delivered and was heavily supported by the community and then Ordinals happened.

Taproot was pushed by blockstream devs.

Blockstream stands to lose money if drivechain gets accepted.

It's not rocket science to figure out who is pushing bitcoin is a particular direction.

the economics of drivechains are the most important part of the game theory, and somehow after 6-7yrs no drivechain proponents, from what i understand, have thought to test drivechains on a chain w real economic value to see if they work.

A competing project will develope a bitcoin killer and we won't see it.

The entire point of drivechain is to make it more ressilient to competing projects.

Drivechain doesnt scale Bitcoin. It enables sidechains constrained by miners and tokens on one Drivechain are not compatible with another. This is the same fundamental limiting factor of Fedimint and Ark and other sidechains like Liquid. Moving from one to another to transact takes a minimum of 2 onchain tx or some form of atomic swap or trusted intermediary
