Porch Swing part 3
Assembled and sealed

Here is my most underrated tool that I use all the time.
Hardwood wedges. I make these on the table saw from scrap wood. Use them for felling trees, holding round logs in place on the sawmill, shimming posts or beams level and plumb, wedging warped boards into place, stealing brace boards, etc.
I keep a couple in every tool box and every truck, use them til they break, and then make some more.

Porch Swing part 2
Frame and seat assembled and parts sanded.
Now to start assembling back and arm railing.

nostr:npub15879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sq5kv0n recently mentioned 'old paper grocery bags that you'd fold and make book covers out of' or something along those lines. I think it was on the Home to Homestead episode, ep 3289
I remembered this was in my attic. A book that my grandfather covered for me when I was in college in 1990. He was a retired engineer so it was a bit more meticulous than most, but it's a solid example for the young-uns who wondered...
He also recommended placing your name in book on a page you can remember in case your book goes missing.
It's held up pretty well.

I'm old enough to remember the paper bags but I guess I'm not old enough to have ever seen them used as book covers.
I have one of their little 1x30 belt sanders. It's not enough for knife making, but pretty handy for sharpening.
Ballew Tool in Springfield is one of the few left.
Building a rustic porch swing from reclaimed lumber. Currently making spindles from old tobacco sticks.
Combining modern and traditional techniques by using a drill with tenon cutter and my Gransfors Bruk hatchet.

A good afternoon for #pipeandtobacco by the pond.
Smoking some JM Boswell "Northwoods" from a Calabresi Italian Briar pipe.

The purple splotches are what give it away.
I hope you're not thinking it's carrot or parsnip. Looks like poison hemlock to me.
Got my tickets today.

My proof of work for this afternoon. Planted zucchini, cucumber, watermelon, and tomatoes in a mixture of #soil #compost and #biochar
Will add peppers next week.

I'm in Cedar County, hour north of Springfield, Stockton Lake area.
It's a fine spring Saturday morning here in Missouri. Time to move the cows.

Lol. As long as it smells good and burns clean.
I like to smoke a pipe on occasion and keep about a dozen blends on hand. I'll post up some pipe and tobacco content on here one of these days.
Nice. What blend are you smoking?
Here is the finished product. My limiting factor right now is the crushing stage. Just threw a few inches into a tub and smashed it with a tamping rod.

This is what came to mind while listening to you speculate on plumbing in a hose bib to quench #biochar from the bottom.

It works. It was a little slower than I had hoped, but I was using gravity flow from another tank. Should work better if used on a pressurized faucet. I can, however, report that the 3/4" valve is too small to effectively drain the barrel, clogs up immediately.
