Yay! Stuff breaking.

Just noticed this concrete cattle waterer was overflowing. I haven't been in this paddock for about two months, so I have no idea how long it's been running.

Had to dig to the shut-off valve to turn it off.

Luckily, it's not a broken pipe. It seems to just be the float valve has failed. I'll try to replace it next week.

LOTR is definitely my favorite, both the films and the books.

I tend to prefer science fiction and fantasy, but will enjoy anything with intriguing plot, original characters and convincing world-building.

I have grown tired of obvious agendas, "deconstructions," "subverting expectations," "post-modern takes on ..." and dragging actors out of retirement to shoot a sequel of that movie that was big 20 years ago because nostalgia is an easy sell. Let's just go back to good storytelling that's not pretentious.

Yep. That's what I do. I grazed through all my paddocks at the start of winter to delay having to feed hay as long as possible.

Now I need to give the fresh grass a bit of a head start before I start rotating the cattle for this season.

Fed my last bale of hay this evening.

That means grazing season starts tomorrow.

The grass has just started growing. I would have liked to have another week worth of hay, but I do have one pasture with enough grass to graze now. That should buy enough time to let the other pastures grow some more.

Hopefully no drought this year.

Cypress is a fairly rot resistant wood, so they should hold up well.

Reapplying an oil finish every year will significantly increase their lifespan.

Sanded to 320 grit and a few applications of an oil/beeswax finish

Made myself this simple little table from a solid slab of ash.

Slab is a cut off from a large countertop or something that we did a few years ago at the sawmill, and it found it's way home with me after a much needed shop decluttering. It's about 20 by 36 inches. Legs came from Amazon.

Delivered these cypress timber chairs we made to Top of the Rock golf course in Branson, Missouri.

"Forest to finish" We cut the trees, milled the logs, assembled and stained the chairs (we did outsource the cushions).

Cleaned out the deep bedding from the chicken house, and filled the compost bin.

Then, broke open last year's compost pile and topped up all the planting containers.
