I am putting together a presentation on fiat, CBDCs, gold and #Bitcoin for a small meetup. The audience will be non-technical people who may have heard of bitcoin but know nothing about it. I have a slide each for the first three, to set the stage for the #Bitcoin part. Now I need to build the rest.
Can you recommend Bitcoin #education materials I can use? Other than trawl through nostr or google for it, where can I get some memes? It is a first for me so all help appreciated!

TLDR: A 30 min teaser for a much larger investigation into money and central banks by John Titus. It boils down to our financial system is grossly unfair, since a tiny minority can effectively create money while everyone else has to work for it. Those with the power are looking to increase and entrench it further.
I am not talking about AI analysing network traffic. It is about the plan to have AI agents on modern phones which 'see what you see, hear what you hear'. If the AI can see my screen, there is little point in protecting the network traffic which feeds into the screen.
If I _choose_ to have an AI on my device, it will be a local one which cannot feed my data back to big tech.
There is a world of difference between that and Apple & Microsoft pushing AI agents to their newest devices, which constantly monitor the screen and device inputs with the goal being to 'see what you see, hear what you hear and live life essentially alongside you'
Aaron Mate, in response to US defense secretary saying Ukraine will neither get the lost land back, nor get in NATO:
"Hundreds of thousands of people would still be alive had Biden been willing to say this three years ago. Instead, Biden refused, fueled a proxy war, presided over Ukraine's decimation, and then turned around and said that Ukraine isn't ready to join NATO anyway.
It was all a bait and switch with one goal only: use Ukraine to bleed Russia. Whoever went along with this epic disaster -- and that sadly includes progressive lawmakers and media -- should ask themselves if it was worth it."
All other recent presidencies were all about theft. I may have had a tiny hope that this will be different but it is vanishing, fast. Looks like under Trump the US will be as gangsta as always, but more openly and with some re-targeting.
Everyone says/does stupid things occasionally. If they act smart most of the time, they have my respect.
But yes, it is strange.
Today is the day: Obscura VPN is NOW AVAILABLE!
Obscura is the first VPN that:
- CAN'T log your activity by design
- Outsmarts network filters
We believe Obscura sets the standard for a new generation of VPNs, and hope you’ll check it out!
----
Contrary to popular belief, traditional VPNs (even “no-log” ones) can track you – they see both who you are and what you do, just like your ISP.
Your ISP is no better. Since 2017, they've been able to legally sell your sensitive data.

Obscura is different – we never see your decrypted internet packets in the first place.
It’s simply impossible for us to log your internet activity, even if we were compelled to, or if our servers were compromised.

We achieve this by using a fully-independent exit hop run by @mullvadvpn. Ensuring that our servers never see your traffic, and the exit hop never sees your identity.
In fact, you can check your connected server’s public key against those listed on Mullvad’s server page!

But that’s not all…
You may have had the frustrating experience of trying to use your VPN on a restrictive WiFi: in an airport, a hotel, or certain jurisdictions.
Other VPNs will often fail to connect, as their off-the-shelf protocol is easily detected and blocked.
With Obscura, we built our own custom stealth protocol that is much harder to block.
Our protocol blends in with regular internet traffic using the same technology that powers HTTP/3 – QUIC – making it much harder for censors or network filters to detect or block.

To celebrate our launch, Obscura is just $6/month.
Our team has put in the hours to make this all a seamless experience, and I hope you’ll take Obscura for a spin.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you on the free and open internet. 🏄

P.S. For those looking for an exploration of our technical choices, here's our blog post! https://obscura.net/blog/bootstrapping-trust/
Great work!
Totally feel left out though with no support for Linux / GrapheneOS.
With the coming all-seeing AI agents is there any point in providing secure internet access to what inherently is a surveillance device?
> Do not obey in advance.
> Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.

You can go further and refuse to obey to nonsensical rules, fullstop. Make them make you.
Throughout COVID in the UK there were ways to travel to wherever you want and to not wear masks. Very few used them.
Except this shit has been going on under Republicans too, for sure. It is not a partisan issue, it is an establishment one.
"3. Donald Trump to halt enforcement of law banning bribery of foreign officials: “It’s going to mean a lot more business for America,” the president said in the Oval Office"
Is he going to come clean and legalise racketeering next... child trafficking... it's all lots more business.
I use graphene OS too. Tried and gave up on nextcloud, guess I don't need it that much.
This is very cool - run an OS in your browser:
There is something menacing about it, and it is not that it is excellent poetry from an AI.
Louis Rossmann is building a consumer protection database. Sounds very much like worthy cause.

I did not expect anything positive for Palestinians from Trump, now I think there is a small chance things will improve. We will have to see what happens.
This could be a pivot nobody expected, least of all me. Is Trump really looking to balance things out for the Palestinians when he said US will own Gaza and rebuild it and then let Palestinians return? Definitely a surprising take on the topic.
That would be an endless cat & mouse game. Closed communities with encrypted content + an analysis tool which lets ppl check what their current
post history leaks to raise awareness. Turn your tool into a pay per use service which sends the results to the npub checked. I would pay to see what it says.
same fucking bullshit dude.
I changed from nostr:npub1kvaln6tm0re4d99q9e4ma788wpvnw0jzkz595cljtfgwhldd75xsj9tkzv to nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch, but it would seem it's nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg eating up my zaps.
it almost seems like the client needs to upgrade their developers team!
I am paying a monthly fee. not being able to zap and losing zaps cos someone can't zap me consistently and I can't zap consistently on random basis is just not cool...
just zapped nostr:npub13ecswm7yn78w7rndgaw9rumatqgkqyu3920t09h5v2r7h6f90d6sea34lt then I couldn't zap her. NOT COOL.

Amethyst / noStrudel + AlbyHub here, no issues. Zaps work fine with YakiHonne too and it is a very good client, once I switched off all content suggestions.
