Altcoiner/scammer proliferation is what causes Bitcoiner exodus. There will be a brand new round of scams for sure, but Nostr looks like a place that will be built by and made for Bitcoiners.
I have an idea for a Sci Fi story set in Antarctica where nuclear power plants have set up a thriving Bitcoin mining operation and have made that place hospitable. A libertarian place that becomes the home of the castouts from everywhere
On Nostr, the users capture the value of various network effects than a centralized platform.
Don't let anyone guilt you into spending your Bitcoin.
The network effect is cumulative and natural. And it keeps growing as long as even one use case keeps growing. It's a super charged network effect
Matchmaking of all types (e.g. dating, recruiting, mentoring, etc.)
Any form of specialized labor (e.g. dentist, plumber, lawn care, etc.)
Custom made-to-order goods
I believe Nostr will enable way more self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Unscalable businesses, ones that require personal attention have a natural outlet here on Nostr. If you're using a platform to sell your services, you have to pay the platform and your work gets taxed. Building out via word of mouth, SEO and a website is a whole lot of work in of itself.
On Nostr, you can show endorsements. You have a natural network of people you know. There's an easy means of payment. And most importantly, you don't have to pay a tax to a platform. You can grow your own business without being dependent on some platform.
Every altcoiner is playing a game of trying to make their money and getting out before it all collapses. And no, I'm not talking about a bear market.
I'm old enough to remember BitMessage. NIP-04 does what that project wanted to do much more simply. I'm waiting for email clients to implement support for Nostr messages.
The most powerful thing about Nostr is that it reverses the server model of the last 25 years. Instead of users going to services and signing up for yet another account, services can now come to users.

One thing I'm noticing about Nostr clients: they are data hogs.
Are there any proposals to compress the data? There ought to be a compressed version of all the data transfer that's much smaller and caches better.
