Good idea, I would never have thought of submerging it. I would think to put an inner tube in water, but never a lantern.
I have the same model and can’t get it to hold pressure. I changed the pump. When I pump it up pressure builds but bleeds down quickly. Do you have any guess at what it might be?
I love projects made from found or scrap material. I think they’re beautiful. That’s a very handsome chicken coop you have there.
Not just to keep the water from freezing but to store and pump water to the pigs. The large black cylinder is a storage tank. The storage tank is connected to a water bowl with a float valve. I’m using a pressure pump from an RV to mo water from the tank to the bowl.
This way, I don’t need to haul fresh water every day. Whenever the pigs take a drink, the bowl fills itself from the reservoir. I only have to fill the reservoir every week or two depending on how hot it is outside. It saves me a lot of time and energy.
I think one thing that turns people off about large blacks is all the information on the Internet says it takes 12 to 18 months to raise a butcher ready pig. I think this information may be referring to purely pasture/forage only raised pigs.
However, as you can attest to, it is very easy to raise a large black to 230 pounds to 250 pounds in 6 to 8 months with supplemental feeding along with forage.
Better meet, lower, feed, cost, and a great disposition. I can walk right up to my pigs and scratch behind their ears anytime. I don’t know why any homesteader wouldn’t raise large blacks.

Added a digital temperature controller to my solar powered pig waterer. The self controlled heating elements had wide range and kept killing the battery.
The goal is to fill the reservoir once a week and otherwise be completely automated.

IDK, I agree with a lot of the industry professionals, between the market cycles, halving and ETF approvals the price of bitcoin will likely reach $100K+ in 2024.
Also, if you factor in inflation the current price of bitcoin is around $25k in 2019 dollars.
When trading fiat for bitcoin at a price equal to its all time high we are still buying at a significant discount.
