Bitcoin does not have proper privacy technology. nostr:npub1r0fj5wr200n0dz9nm37ysrhuy8xeg66ratq5hf960q62caaz8e5sqpuzz3 I am not saying Monero is better than Bitcoin. Bitcoin can have all of this, but Saylor doesn’t want it. Saylor is very clever though. He tricked me, talking about Rothbard and pretending like he’s anti-government.
Bitcoin COULD be fixed but nobody is interested. Because those with power have a vested interest in keeping it insecure and non-private. There are zero reasons why monero is worse than Bitcoin , but many that can be argued as better. Except for one: the fact that few use it.
Exactly, even just 'good' but basic opsec is really hard with bitcoin and lightning is actually even worse, and more complicated. Its a pain. Unless you want custodial services which are a joke. Not only that but most non-custodial solutions are apps on Android (which is a big no no for opsec). Bitcoin sucks from a practical, security and fungibility point of view, and lightning and joincoin have has just made it all the more complicated and also less fungible. Monero solves all these.
On coracle muting becomes blocking, because of the algo, those who are muted become blocked from everyone using the client. Its worse than individualk blocking. Not least because mute can be useful for reasons other than disliking comments.
OBNOXIOUS CENTRA TECH VIBES. PLEASE STOP.
coracle.social censors with its web of trust algo. I know you can change the default settings but few will, and its easy to get a lower score when just a few decide to mute you (for various reasons) . When that happens you can't reach ANYONE, you are out forever and you can't even tell people who havn't muted you, because the algo mutes for them. Mute by algo is worse than being blocked by individuals. I hope other clients don't adopt this. Its a shame as coracle is very good otherwise.
its also easier, direct and doesn't require a third party involvement (just miners). monero is obviously superior in every way. Bitcoin folk just live in denial. Core devs have no intention of making bitcoin private. its non fungible, state monitored money. Fiat cash is better than bitcoin for privacy.
But not everything thats added to the block can be spent. Eg tainted coins or deannonymised coins (that is any bitcoin) on a watch list. Which means Bitcoin is no longer fungible.
how do you pay for food, drink and heat?
Bitcoin maximalists: What are the arguments against monero vs bitcoin?. As far as I can tell it ticks all the boxes of bitcoin and more but NONE of the ones that other shitcoins have (accept for network adoption rate). Privacy is a massive flaw in Bitcoin and its not being addressed by bitcoin devs at all (which itself is frustrating and dubious by its continued absence from discussion) Monero is the best candidate for privacy coin. And since privacy is the TOP feature required by Bitcoin right now, why not use Monero. Coinjoin is complex, expensive and open to supression by regulation. Lightning is not private and also complex. And now that exchanges are blocking tainted coins Bitcoin can't even be considered fungible anymore, let alone private. Why should anyone use Bitcoin over Monero?
using 12 words instead of 24 IS criminal!
Nostr is not private. Yeah thats a problem, anonymity is useful and important for many.
why are you always pushing some kind of custodial bitcoin wallet app (on ios/andorid of all things) or custodial nostr key implementation (bunker). Its maddening. Same with rest of nostr: zaps, paid relays and profiteering from speech at the granular level is ruining nostr on every level. Its as if you want nostr to stop being private and free for the masses while pretending you support the opposite. Bitcoin was ruined by the same kind of people. Capitalists trying to make it something it is not.
I sometimes think bitcoiners are deliberately trying to alienate normal people. Nobody (NOBODY) is going to look at this video and think ' bitcoin is actually simple to use now'
How many transactions have not gone ahead because of censorship tho? The fact of the matter is that every transaction is traceable and when coin mixing is soon to be banned/ illegal it makes bitcoin not as fungible as cash or gold. All Those hundred trillion US dollar worth of transactions may not be censored but they are being traced, and many will be censored at the end of the line
how so ? We have no record of that and you make no statements about it. Why don't you explain it to the public to help them understand?
This setup is (or at leasts sounds to the average person) even more complicated than any other system/hardware combo. This isn't making it easy for the masses, it just highlights how risky it is to hold bitcoin without losing them or having them stolen. While also giving away privacy with mobile apps. What happens when the bitkey server goes down or business goes under. Also fingerprinting its ripe for arm robbery, no plausible deniability etc
using mobile phone apps for bitcoin (even with hardware wallet) is insecure, but worse still, its useless for privacy. I don't understand why anyone would encourage users to use android/ios to manage their bitcoins. I would not trust such people. Its unnecessary, costly, and risky, you can't even airgap a phone without a soldering iron. Convenience and security do not mix. Add to that the recent scandal around push notifications. Just no. Stick to free open source methods. So many companies trying to profit from convenience, knowing full well they are sacrificing your privacy and security.
You cant even airgap a mobile phone without a soldering iron.
