Aside from getting in loads of debt (seems to be part of the deal) there used to be a lot to get from a degree, socially, but based on those two points, it may or may not be worth getting a degree.
If I was a student today, I'd feel that the learning part of the equation could be done through library access, local and online communities.
Colleges could offer less expensive, assessment only format.

I have also heard it said but alphabet soup news media that nobody watches or listens to intently is still ever-present and serves that purpose as a reference point to acceptable norms, subliminally, or occasionally, intently, as brainwashed relics of a bygone days. What's not factored into this notion is what has replaced it now serves the same normalcy bias. How many people are engaged with the internet (www) and how many people are engaged with one application that serves as their window to the internet?
So then, not that any of this means anything much but, it's a considered reversal of a considered reversal of an ill-considered regulatory framework which most likely, owing to the lack of cognitive awareness and functions of the correspondent, ought to be reconsidered and reversed by the people, for the people.
