I absolutely recommend going to college for degrees in math, computer science, engineering and medicine.

I do not think it’s a good idea to waste your money on a political science, English literature or liberal arts degree..

If you are worried about your kids turning ‘woke’ just by going to school, they were too impressionable in the first place.

I would tack on law. And agreed overall - I'm sure I'll be struggling with this when my kids are graduating from high school.

Yes law also 🤙

i dunno... if you're going to do engineering, may as well take a minor in liberal arts.

in my day engineering was 80% male whereas liberal arts classes were 80% female.

depending what someone's looking for, it's good to mix it up

Minor can be anything, ideally something different.

Good morning fren!

Education on a Bitcoin Standard I agree, on a Fiat Standard I disagree. Not worried about my kids being woke just worried about them having a beneficial education.

Bitcoin standard, most likely wouldn’t be able to afford their college education otherwise..

College is expensive due to the administration bloat and the government subsidy.

College is one of the services inflating the most…

Things that people want and need the most

In the beginning yes, but ultimately that will change and high quality education will become almost free on a Bitcoin Standard.

Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!

Remember the ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ movies? They now control most of the US..

Nerds you can Trust

biggest regret from college is exactly this — was partying and didn’t want to deal. Should have gone deep into math/CS instead.

One of the most important things I learned in college was how to drink beer 😁

I got a PS degree. It lead me to some great opportunities, but I ended up becoming a carpenter

The big question is was it worth the money? Maybe in the connections you made and experiences? The PS degrees I know of also ended up with totally unrelated jobs.

I was planning to head into politics, diplomacy, international peace efforts. I came quite close, working w ambassadors, internships at consulates and united nations. Some other things I won't dox myself on. But it ultimately led to meeting my wife and having my child so 10000% worth it

You can’t put a price on that.

Medicine is suspect now too. Better to not be involved in such a slave system

but you can learn everything online for free now

Maybe not everything!!

Definitely some truth to this but also it is hard to resist an ideology everyone around you believes. If we are brutally honest we are all social creatures and our peers always influence us to some degree. It’s a hard balance.

A lot of it has to do with which school, which study, how influenceable are the kids, how much money you have, etc.

Yes, a lot of balance

Not sure you understand liberal arts degrees. I have one and it was zero woke

Degrees, used to be scarce and now everyone can have one.

Math, engineering and medicine are hard to get, but still there are more engineers in the world than in the XX century.

There is value in learning how to think and how to approach a problem, either is learned IRL experience or in an institution.

If going to an institution is the preferred option to learn this, doesn’t really matter what is the discipline.

Gotcha

Not all schools, not all degrees, not all kids. Also have nothing against not going, as long as you learn something and work. Trade schools are awesome!

Aside from getting in loads of debt (seems to be part of the deal) there used to be a lot to get from a degree, socially, but based on those two points, it may or may not be worth getting a degree.

If I was a student today, I'd feel that the learning part of the equation could be done through library access, local and online communities.

Colleges could offer less expensive, assessment only format.
