I found the first thing I ever posted about #bitcoin on Twitter, and it wasn’t exactly positive. Then I realized that the price had gone up 10x between that date and when I actually bought any.

This was cost of my ignorance and inaction.

My favorite part of this is also the cognitive dissonance i receive when i explain why my personal scoreboard is so high. Others don't want to believe it was due to calculated decisions based on simple realities that just required an extended low-time preference.

I still get the "Oh i wouldn't do that. Oh that's too risky. etc" Simple sad fact is a lot of people see the scoreboard but then fall right back into their NPC/lemming mindset where they allow the legacy "expert" class to steer them back into a place of comfort because it's where the herd is at.

But it is a great point. Financial markets provide an absolute objective measure of success and how right you are. I just wish it wasn't so fucking hard when you give other people the cheat code on a golden platter then fail to recognize it.

I like Cardano, as an idea. I think they're genuine about what they're trying to do and their principles.

Doesn't mean I think Cardano can do what BTC does -- it can't and THERE IS NO SECOND BEST. So I save my wealth in BTC, not in Cardano. However I do think there is a fundamental difference between Cardano, with their approach of putting out peer reviewed papers on every fucking single thing -- which I'm not qualified to judge --, their choice of UTXO, a defined max supply and regular preprogrammed issuance, and their effort to build truly decentralized governance (they're passing a Constitution soon?), versus other projects like Ethereum.

I have asked Cardano people many times to explain their claims that their version of PoS "Ouroboros" whatever version it is now, is as safe as PoW, and they have this "if you don't get it I don't have to explain it to you" kind of attitude of referring people to their multiple papers. So it is what it is, though.
