In principle, no.

I'm watching a security guy trying to make a case for a reduced utility and benefits of VPNs. His main point is that https is safe enough and that VPNs don't protect you against scammers. Fair enough. Good points for VPN? Location spoofing. And then he dismissively mentions that a VPN "just" encrypts your DNS requests...

Well, this is something I always say about privacy - "hackers"? Why would "hackers" target me?

On the other hand, GOVERNMENT...

These are two different threats looking for different things, and I encourage people to see each in their respective proportion and probability of being attacked by them.

I'll leave my VPN on, thanks.

Unlike most memes, the Chinese characters in this one actually check out 😂 nostr:note1szaum593lkzt2ev5dzq394cncu5k6gqc8f5regc5pm8afq5wvqds7e8vev

When I say it takes 20-30 seconds and even freezes up when open simple pages I mean even when you just open a new empty tab. It's nuts. And it has to be something with Brave itself.

It's messed up because I have been using Brave very much ever since it came out. It was rain in the desert. I really want to use it.

All that means is that devs are not following the protocol, or that the protocol is shit.

I am here because of the value proposition of decentralization and lack of censorship, so I am patient.

But with shit answer like this, y'all can forget about ever going beyond a micro-niche of tech geeks and hyperideological individual like myself.

Is there any desktop client that doesn't nuke nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955? By the way, is there anything going on with nostr:npub1wnwwcv0a8wx0m9stck34ajlwhzuua68ts8mw3kjvspn42dcfyjxs4n95l8 for desktop? It seems to have been broken for a while now too. nostr:note1x90uv7mllnaf5lwqrlj8q28xdapy4stfv757pe0ps8nehj2ptpls83mkty

I agree indeed. That doesn't mean the poor man was wrong though! I see that ration again and again in business.

Especially now that EUR is banned from Binance.

Yes, Brave works. Except for the last few weeks for reasons unknown, it has become unusable generally speaking.

It will take 20, 30 seconds to load the simplest page, it will outright freeze, etc. I have tried everything, including reinstalling, to no avail.

That's why I went back to Firefox, and now I have this problem.

Still haven't been able to solve this. Any ideas? nostr:note14yak3gpk03arcdem8h6de5g3fs72crrcy9we7t94h3sg6fx28znsa74q04

Yes but I'm quite sure "Thomas Albertson" who has zero notes or replies and zero followers is a bot. Others only and exclusively have reposts of other people's notes, and that even weirder.

Fuck yeah. Time-wise, smells more like a Russia or Dubai thing.

Post pictures of cats, or food, or sunsets, or songs you like. I'm being serious. Those are needed and popular.

Here's another good potential feature: purging of unwanted followers, either manually or even better configurable based on parameters or filters.

Well, in a sense everything that runs on the internet is "social" because the internet is "just" a network of communication networks.
