I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this. I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.

Christoper Robin was a child, I just thought Epstein preferred women.

It really is. I’m already candy coated out there. Winter is showing itself again!!

It IS a happy Friday. So happy I don’t have to hit the loan mine this weekend

Morning Nostriches!

Morning pond report is that it’s snowing! The last 2 warm days have caused the stream behind my hunting grounds to melt completely resulting in a river for a few days & we’re getting ready to refreeze. I see grass all around right now too! Can’t wait for this to be all covered again in new snow

Optimistic is a very good step! Keep

Your chin up & things tend to get better

Morning Nostriches!

Morning pond report is deer! Got some action shots on the corn pile last night here, rut is pretty much over so this could be an argument for corn, maybe just play?

Thanks Cindy - that’s warm though! Not even going to wear a hat when I go out to feed sheep today

Sometimes, hopefully it will this year as it’s so pretty when it does.

It’s lovely today with those storm clouds above those colored leaves.

I don’t know. Beef initiative & Peony wine sounds like a good pairing to me!

Bought my son & daughter in law a gift cert from the beef initiative last year for Xmas, they still haven’t used it. Maybe they’d be willing to spend it on wine.

I’ve never seen any of my Amish neighbors put horse on their garden, but I have seen several use chicken. They are bigger fans of mushroom compost & cover crops though.

If you want the easiest manure to use get a bunny. It goes directly from the cage into the garden, no compost time required.

Brie! I live close to a place that makes it. Every once in a while we head out to the farmhouse & pick some up. I could live off Brie. We even named a dog Brie.

I am just now starting to see leaves turn. Pond pics are going to get more colorful

Morning Maria! It’s starting to get cold in the mornings, fear deck season is coming to a close for the year

Morning Nostriches

Morning pond report is birds & deer & turkeys. My corn pile we put down there on Sunday is gone already, going to need to refresh that to keep an interest going. Bonus pic is the finally stained deck. Hubs is still talking about another coat though.

Morning Nostriches

Pond report is deer! I had 4 bucks & a doe milling about for an hour this morning hanging out in the field & sampling the corn pile. I’m hoping that doe hangs around for the next few weeks as that guarantees my bucks will stay a while.

Morning Nostriches

Morning pond report is deer! 2 bucks came walking through. Unfortunately my deck is still very tacky so my pic is of the woods from the side deck.
