I certainly think this scenario is their plan to take over #Bitcoin although it’s unclear how likely it is to play out.
Besides regulators, miners and the media, #Blackrock will also have influence over the #crypto exchanges (both pure players and traditional brokers moving into the space). IMO, the goal is to steal the Bitcoin brand while moving the network to PoS.
We know what happens to the fork that loses the brand…
What’s the mechanism for miners to evict a vanity drivechain?
This is explained in a section of BIP-300. Give it a read then let ne know what you think.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0300.mediawiki
Maybe I’m missing something but I’m not sure how this would prevent someone from creating vanity #drivechains. Yes, there are thresholds below which a #drivechain slot can be reclaimed but wouldn’t be possible for an attacker to generate vanity transactions (=usage) to maintain the ownership of the drivechain slot?
#Bip300
Not necessarily a critic but a question I still have regarding #drivechains:
Once #Bip300 is activated, how can one create a #drivechain? Is it permisionless or is the approval of someone (miners?) required? If it is permisionless, how does Bip300 protect against a spammer who would attempt to create 256 (the maximum allowed) vanity drivechains? Are the 256 slots simply allocated on a first come, first serve basis?
« Many bad incentives for miners » could you mention a few?
One of the most insightful interview, I’ve listened to so far on #Bip300 and #drivechains.

So it looks like it’s an issue that isn’t specific to a given relay but that is rather caused at the protocol level. #Nostr
That’s true, although the issue with the « conductivity » of data may also happens to my relay.
Is it that the data is stored on relays but can’t be retrieved or is it that it’s lost forever?
I used to be connected to 7 or so relays so I would find odd that all of them would have erased the data. #asknostr
I’m not sure what this means. Do you know if this is something that can be fixed or mitigated?
It’s a bummer though. Preservation of social media notes is a benefit I expected to gain from using #Nostr. I may have to rethink about that...
#asknostr
Currently, #Bitcoin has utility as an unconfiscatabale asset and store of value. The speculation on #BTC and other #crypto often considers present and future utility. Utility can change over time. It’s not a given that Bitcoin will conserve these. #Gold has lost its utility as a medium of exchange over the ages although it is now regaining it thanks to the #goldbacks.

The guy isn’t honest and suing people left and right for dubious reasons. So no, I have no respect for him. He likely has an undisclosed agenda. https://x.com/cainbcha/status/1695312235730805207
This is weird… There are messages that I posted that don’t show in my timeline anymore. For instance the following one which is still live on #Nostr:
https://damus.io/note12z84e5lzu4mz2lxd4jgqcrdlq94tz0fk4zcetwnxxf8zzvzna0pswp3tlx
Does anyone know why this message wouldn’t show on my timeline? Is this a bug? If so does it come from Nostr or #Damus (which I’ve been using)?

#Bitcoin and #eCash developers still welcome your donations to defeat Craig Wright in court and save the future of #FOSS. nostr:note12z84e5lzu4mz2lxd4jgqcrdlq94tz0fk4zcetwnxxf8zzvzna0pswp3tlx
Same but once in a while I’ll check the normies news (just the headlines) to be aware of what normies currently think. It certainly can be dangerous to be unaware of what’s they are being fed.
« As long as you are able to off ramp » that’s exactly the issue. At best, off-ramp will be #KYC only and pervasive (look into the #TravelRule) and cash phased out.
Yes, parallel economies taking #crypto payments will still exist but how large and convenient will those be? Again, that brings up back to the question of adoption.
I agree that if for whatever reason they can’t restrict off-ramp then adoption would matter less but they are working hard at the task.
Critical mass in:
#Bitcoin price exposure -> probably
Bitcoin ownership -> maybe
Merchants adoption -> certainly not
Yes, #CBDC are inevitable but escaping them won’t be easy even for bitcoiners. Do you think they will allow you to off-ramp your #BTC to CBDC frictionlessly? I doubt it.
That’s why adoption matters more than it had in the past.
How do we win then? Don’t you think that #Bitcoin adoption VS. #CBDC will matter?

It does have the potential to create more self-employment opportunities but the big corporations obviously don't want that.
#AI is knowledge on steroids, the elite confiscates knowledge they don’t want it to be democratized for the #plebs to use. If you look the AI safety debate from this angle, it provides a totally different perspective as to which role each actor plays. #tech
Interesting article discussing the science behind #BillGates’ #Apeel coating that is applied to fruits and vegetables (including #organic) without labeling.
It also contains a list of grocery stores and producers who have adopted Apeel.

Scaling doesn’t belong to the #Bitcoin maxis’ lexicon.
